If you guys only knew how much I spend on my daughter's competitive cheerleading.  It's embarrassing.  However, we've never forced her to do any extracurricular things.  She tried soccer, softball and volleyball before cheer.  She wasn't into it.  Especially practices.  Now, she voluntarily goes to the gym 6 days a week to practice her tumbling. When she's not at the gym she's either watching videos on cheering/tumbling or playing minecraft.

much like cartoons, the quality of programing for kids (particularly on Amazon Prime) is outstanding. Gortimer Gibbons, Kicks, Annedroids, are you kidding me? Wow.

I tried with the sports. My kids are total nerds. I love everything that they're into regardless. Jazz band? eff yeah!

My kids will sit there and watch other kids put legos together for a good hour.

Then they'll go do the same thing with their legos.

I guess I do the same thing with fixing a toilet or patching drywall...

The other night I watched 2 hours of starcraft 2 competition on YouTube. I don't even really play starcraft, especially not multiplayer

i've used youtube to teach myself home improvement/ repair skills. i used khan academy to teach myself a certain subject the summer before grad school. washburn never required me to take any courses in it, and it was going to be a large part of my graduate study. now days, i pretty much only use youtube to look up music videos or concerts.

My son loves pokemon.  There is a channel that is called Opening Pokemon, or something like that.  Kids buy cards, open them on cam, and talk about the cards.  Not in a collector/stats nerd type way, but just like a normal kid opening pokemon cards way.
