Pretty golden opportunity for this congress to get a win and pass something with bipartisan support.

did he like charter and order it just for him? then maybe, but military planes are always flying everywhere all the time and it is not unusual for govt personnel to be allowed on these flights on a space available basis. its really a cost saving measure.

i don't know how a treasury secretary would have any authority to request a military flight, so i have to assume the above is what is actually happening.

there is a 100% chance that there are over $811,797.81 worth of military flights in the air right at this very instant for literally no reason.

the trips in question were not "hey you guys are already going to Berlin, can I jump on" trips.  Report also says the trips weren't against the law but the "proof" for needing the aircraft over commercial was vague.

Report here:

The heads of each department should have a small jet for business use only, just imo. Their time is important enough for the expense

Presumably, the controversy over Price's flights had something to do with the assumption of unjustified expense. The Treasury inspector general said that inadequate justification for flights was provided by Mnuchin.

If one is a big deal, so is the other. Not that people will see it that way.

One US official expressed confidence in Tillerson's status due to a so-called "suicide pact" forged between Defense Secretary James Mattis, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and Tillerson, whereby all three cabinet secretaries vow to leave in the event that the president makes moves against one of them.

Trump would fail a piece of cake ethics test so badly. I don't mean because he'd disagree about what's considered ethical vs. unethical.  I mean because he has absolutely no conception of what would be considered ethical vs. unethical.
