I would actually respect him if he ended social security. No way he has the balls to do that, though. He's probably just going to raise the retirement age. Make a bad program even worse than it already is.

If they refund my $$ I would be totally fine

Has anyone ever gotten more U.S. government assistance than Elon.  SpaceX gets almost all of their money from the government. Tesla was able to be profitable because of government mandated credits from other auto manufacturers. And I’d be shocked if Starlink wasn’t getting government money too.

really?

why?

Because the people who would be most affected by it voted for it. I think people should get what they vote for.

If it ever happens, they won't just flip a switch, they will do some bene reduction in such a way that nothing happens for ppl that are on it or will be in the next 10 yrs, but the ppl that are 20-10 yrs out will get 50%, and everyone more than 20 yrs out will get dick.

Or something like that.

You guys are wasting keystrokes here. The only people that need to worry about DOGE are working for the government from home that basically do nothing constructive. Will save hundreds of billions per year.

I think we could keep SS solvent. We just need to institute mandatory age limits. All government benefits cease at 85. I could be persuaded +/- a few years, but that's the general concept.

It could be made solvent by increasing the income cap on contributions. Doesn't change that it's an investment with an awful return. The elderly have voted, and they don't want it. It's immoral to force young people to continue paying for it while also working to make it even worse for them.

Social Security is maybe the most successful US government program of all time.

According to this chart, it appears social security might back to when America was great(relative to poverty level)?

I am a fierce proponent of social security for those who paid into it, or those who were incapable of paying in and need our help.

I’ve never been a one issue voter, but this one comes close for me.

These are fantastic, mostly because you can tell they are going to enrage Trump if this talking point persists.

Pete . . . do you think it will enrage Trump as much as #blueanon freaks out about people talking about Soros - Soros Jr?

IMO - Highly unlikely.

#blueanon fights hard for their movements controlling billionaires.

Soros (long time close business associate to Trump’s treasury secretary) is definitely a polarizing figure.

I’d say that Trump gets more upset over stuff that slights his stature, however.  Those “servant to Elon” memes are going to rattle Trump if the memes persist and remain highly trafficked.

Pete - nothing tops #blueanon/#blueanongE rage, then when people point out how Dems across the board genuflect to the Soros ghouls

There’s nothing polarizing about it - LMAO

It’s cold hard reality.

The most fantastic thing about Bessent’s association with Soro’s is that now #blueanon media go to’s are forced to admit that the Soro’s are monetary ghouls.  With only their self serving interests at heart.

How many American’s do the Soro’s have on their payroll compared to Musk? What is the localized economic impact of a Soro’s operation?

You may well be proved correct about Soros over time.

It does appear that the Elon stuff will remain separate from the Soros stuff, and these Elon/Trump memes are pretty popular right now. We’ll see if Trump can avoid taking the bait if these memes persist.
