I've had great success with sling tv and xfinity in eastern TN.  I wouldn't worry about having people over and relying on it.  I was skeptical at first, but it's done well.

Sling has a dookie codec. My VPN doesn't have the bandwidth.

Video performance on my shitty VPN ranking:

1. Hulu/Google/YouTube/Netflix
2. HBOnow
3. Amazon/Slingplayer
Dookie. SlingTV

i borrowed a friend's Amazon fire stick for a couple weeks. The biggest issue for me was interface and convenience. I'm a big channel switcher, especially on Saturdays. It was extremely clunky to try and go back and forth smoothly on sling. If they can ever perfect that, i would think hard about it. I got pretty much every channel i wanted.

Maybe just take some ADHD medicine?

My recommendo for anyone who watches enough TV to consider themselves a channel changer would be to keep cable.

how much is too much? On Saturdays, i'm usually changing the channel every commercial break. More during the end of games.

AT&T launching DirectTV Now package with 100+ channels for $35 a month.

I hate that these companies have the consumers by the balls or vag in all this.  I loath the idea of giving At&t/comcast/direct/timewarner/dish/centurylink any money.

We switched over from SlingTV to Playstation Vue this past month since the Royals' season is over. (not as much need for FSKC)

Playstation Vue is a much better product than SlingTV. The absolute only thing that Sling has that's a 'plus' is the option to have FSKC. If PS Vue adds that, it's a no brainer.

DL the Fox sports app and it gives you the option to register it via your PS Vue subscription as the provider.  Boom, you have FSKC, just no dvr for it.

If this is the case I'm starting to lean to PSVue. If I can watch Royals/Cats sports on a) TV sets hooked to a PS3/4 and b) watch on iphone/ipad I'm sold.

You sure you can do that if your Vue subscription doesn't include the channel. Seems like a pretty big and easily fixable error on Fox's part.

I have the $35/mo Vue package and it works.  No clue about any other variable.

Is this your only access to TV/sports?

I have an OTA antenna and have used it exactly twice since I switched.  Both times for chiefs games.

As mentioned in another cord cutting thread, I dl'ed the ESPN app and it works with Vue as well.  So, I get the ESPN's there.  Other than that, yes.

I do have Kodi installed on the fire tv, but haven't used it for sports yet.  I will use it if I miss a game, for a reply if needed, or if I can't get something else on the above.

Nice. I think I'll probably go with that $35 Vue package when the time comes. Seems just as good (if not better) than Sling.
