agree with clams.  it was an abject failure, but an idea nonetheless.  hopefully next year they bring in the goo goo dolls.

What concert would draw 40,000 people for a concert in Manhattan, KS? At $100 per ticket?

I was wondering how the ticket prices were set. There is no way a bunch of people were going to pay what they were asking for tickets.

instead of doing this at BSFS and charging $100/ticket they should do it at like a park nearby and charge $100 and let people camp. and maybe bring in bands that can fill up a whole day, maybe even two-four days.

Did Kstate not offer up any guarantee?  Did we collect all the fees up front?  Wouldn't 12,000 tickets be a loss just on the Kstate facilities expenditures?

I can definitely see the value of ZBB in manhattan but think it's more of a Bram show than BSFS.  Blake Shelton did one of these a week or two ago that was really successful.

The section I was in was about 90% empty, so yeah the $100+ ticket thing didn't go over well

Is that even a plan? I thought the whole point was to try to make up for having only 6 home games this year. I know next year we play @Vanderbilt but Big 12 schedule obviously shifts back to 5 home games.

Right. You only need to cite basically every single non-Stampede attempt at bringing in a national act and putting it in one of our sports venues. Throughout the years, this kind of stuff just flops in MHK. (Hysteria tour Def Lep and Garth Brooks notwithstanding).

Does the Stampede headliner draw 40,000? Seems like a lot of people at Tuttle.

That was my first thought, then I looked at his tour because I remember he sold out 7 shows in Tulsa in 30 minutes.

In December he played 6 sold out shows in Wichita.  81,000 people at $75 each.  When they opened up the majority of those tickets at once, they sold 65,000 within an hour.  As long as he hasn't played KC in the months before, he'd sell out 40,000 in Manhattan.

It probably also didn't help that people that went in KC said it sucked.
