Zac Brown Band will be playing a concert inside BSFS the second weekend in September......."so we've got that going for us." :billdance:
-
Who?
-
never heard of this dude but he's got back to back fenway park shows. amazing. hope it goes well :)
-
Pretty popular country band. should be an all day event too with tailgating
-
Ignore him, hamboned. I'm really happy for my hayseed friends who like country. Great get for them.
-
Hamboned do you have a link
-
I probably won't go to this
-
Zac brown is like a gateway drug into the realm of country music. Source: mrs mocat is from western kansas
-
Supposed to be announced tomorrow in press conference

if the ZBB would cover one GGD song what would you choose? I go with Broadway
-
This is just going to tear up our already shitty turf
the excessive crown makes for horrible acoustics
-
I think it will just be simulcast on the billions of digital sq ft that BSFS now rocks.
-
never heard of this dude but he's got back to back fenway park shows. amazing. hope it goes well :)
This is the band that sings that "ba ba baaa" song?
-
Can confirm.
Also I like ZBB a lot.

What you feel is what you are, and what you are is beautiful....
-
I mean if they are gonna open up BSFS to concerts, hopefully they bring in someone good
-

So why don't you slide?

I have used Chicken Fried as a ringtone. Great song.

I like Knee Deep with jimmy buffet, and Toes

The sad thing is, I'm pretty sure anything other than country would be frowned upon by anyone in charge of those decisions.

I went, and I remember absolutely nothing. I woke up on a couch in an apartment I had never been in before and only kind of knew one of the guys that lived there.
-
You guys think JC is going to put up with an all day Music Orgy at BSFS?
-
I'm not a country guy, but i'm also not a dick head. Just because you don't like country, doesn't mean they're not good TBT. They are. This is a great hayseed addition and is nothing but positive.
-
You live in rough ridin' mhk. Kanye West is not running out of that tunnel.

is zac brown really country? I'm not sure. I mean, kind of I guess. also have we talked about wheeler walker/comedian guy. it was a pretty smart thing.

he's about as country as Sam Hunt

I heard that Walker guy on the radio. It was terrible and unfunny

Beyoncé.

they are pretty honest about thinking of themselves as a Southern Rock band (ie Allman Bros, Lynryd Syndryd, etc) but country music is where the $ is at
-
ZBB has topped both the Country and Rock charts at the same time, and they jam in concert. The haters are weird, and maybe they're not the best to listen to at your desk, but they're great live.
-
think they played the national anthem at either the 2014 World Series in KC or the all star game in KC, can't remember which one.
-
they're great. i know some people are immediately turned off by the word 'country,' and that's fine, but their latest album isn't really country at all. and yes, they put on a hell of a show.
-
Hell to the yeah. Let's move this stuff to the MHK thread and call it progress.
-
The lead singer got caught with hookers and blow so he can't be all that country.
-
I have used Chicken Fried as a ringtone. Great song.
do people still do that? (special ringtones)

When I recruited students, a lot of them (very bizarre) would record a song on their phone from like their car or computer over their speaker and set it as their ringtone song when you called the. <---- Very weird and random

Seriously though, get this MHK concert content off the football board

i've had my phone off of vibrate maybe twice in the last 30 years

I don't mind country music at all, enjoy quite a bit of it and some of Zach Brown Band's songs.
I'm one who enjoys all kinds of music though as well, and the fact that it's only country acts that will more than likely come to Manhattan is kind of disappointing.

definitely agree with that. but hey ben folds came that one time!

Digital Underground performed at Silverados.

Jackyl.

Could use their chainsaw and carve "Jackyl" into the shitty turf to get it replaced.

TRAIN!
-
I can't stop laughing.
-
There are media people that took time out of their day to be there for this.
It was televised on KStateHD.tv.
I mean...I can't stop laughing.

The ZBB's of the world are just too cornball for me.

^also, I had never seen that video but the live shots are at a theater in Oakland.
-
also, who do you nerds want to play BSFS? Beyonce? Get real, dorks.
-
The lead singer got caught with hookers and blow so he can't be all that country.
Toby Keith, known douchebag, has consumed more blow than the entire 1993 Dallas Cowboys roster.
-
Get REAL Dorks!! :curse:
-
i would go to a dax turntable session/q&a at bsfs

Weezy

Ginuwine
You're horny, let's do it
Ride it, my pony
My saddle's waiting, come and jump on it

this seems like the time for @CoachBillSnyder to tweet about ginuwine. feels right
-
i would go to a dax turntable session/q&a at bsfs
I'll throw in lasers
-
I think a DoD 1.0 music festival would be both awesome & affordable - what really could Ginuwine, Warren G, the Quad City DJs, and DJamer Cool have better to do?
-
Ginuwine could also give a rousing rendition of bye bye lil Sebastian

I used to have Friends Forever by The Zack Attack (from Saved by the Bell) as my ringtone. One time it went off in a class in Eisenhower and I played it off like I was so embarrassed, but I wasn't. I was pretty proud of that 'tone.
Also, this is a great idea -- having a giant concert on a bye week, that is. We should probably do it every year.
-

Mike Jones
Who?
-
Kendrick Lamar with special guest Mad Mike opening for Pink Floyd: The one and only final reunion concert.

Tone Loc performed at the old stadium.

I can't believe anybody cares about this. The last concert was in 1987, and was shortened by rain.
Let's play football, not concerts. Just sayin'

I don't think they are mutually exclusive
-
I'm just concerned it could be awkward. Like, how many people will come to this thing? 10,000? Its going to feel awkwardly empty almost certainly and they'd be better off setting up a stage in the parking lot.
-
How many people go to Country Stampede?

no idea. 10k???

It is the largest annual music festival in Kansas. Total combined attendance for all days exceeds 170,000 – in 2012 it was approximately 175,000. The record for largest single-day attendance was set on June 23, 2012, when an estimated 55,000 fans watched Toby Keith perform.

woah. maybe ZBB will fill the bill damn.
-
Will be the largest gathering of Nebraskans in our state since 2010
-
Yes, nebraskans will go berserk
-
Willie Nelson once performed at the stadium after a game.
Fun fact that was actually the last performance in BSFS. 1987 I believe.
-
Also the best thing Zac Brown has been a part of is right here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8oL-XCH43I
-
I also plan on being in attendance. Zac Brown Band is one of the best country music acts of his time, wouldn't miss it. Also a historic concert for BSFS, wouldn't be surprised if it sells out.

I stumbled upon that show walking home from campus. He also pretended to chug an entire liter of GreyGoose and gave a shout out to Steve Jobs iirc. It was really bizarre.

That is confirmed. However they are a great band with tons of great songs and deserve better than just being a one hit wonder :curse:

Very cosmopolitan. At the rooftop bar where he laid in grass for the 2nd time this past weekend, the grass wasn't even real.

so the stage is on the Endzone Funzone seats? interesting if true.
-
Wildcat Den, lol. Make sure you k-stateo the eff out of this thing KSU cats.

i don't go to concerts, but is that a massive price for a band like the ZBB in a stadium? Seems like it to me.
-

shows in stadiums are pretty much always absurdly expensive. It doesn't make much sense to me.
-
i don't go to concerts, but is that a massive price for a band like the ZBB in a stadium? Seems like it to me.
yeah, not sure how they plan on filling the bill on this one, especially when a large part of the local community are college kids.
-
I have friends coming up from TX going to this, these prices are outrageous tho
-
prices seem steep to me, zbb was in wichita and kansas city this spring so there's going to be a lot of people that don't feel the need to pay those prices to go to manhattan to see them.
also, why in the hell is sitting in section 8 seventy dollars more expensive than section 9?
-
lol at those prices
-
a lot of college age boyfriends just said "god rough ridin' damnit"
-
A majority of the seats for sale are $109 and up.....yeah good luck with that lol. The south end zone will be packed and the sidelines will be sporadically filled.
-
the pricing structure baffles me. $59 to sit in section 420 and $39 to sit in section 16?
-
the pricing structure baffles me. $59 to sit in section 420 and $39 to sit in section 16?
i think you can "roll a big fat one" in 420 tho
-
That's one week at the plasma center. Nothing to see here.
-
maybe the stage is on top of Vanier?
-
Pretty cheap when otherwise it's $75 just to see the opening act play cover songs.
http://neumos.com/event/train-performs-led-zeppelin-ii/
-
A certain, dare I say, sadness creeps into my being at the thought of anyone paying anything above $15 to see that show.
-
Will this affect the sell out streak?
-
Will this affect the sell out streak?
Nah Currie will lie about this one too.
-
i'm sure there will still be plenty of people who go, i just couldn't imagine dropping that type of cash on any musical act, let alone ZBB in BSFS.
-
seems as if their show in the SC tickets are 47.50-77.50
-
This concert should be marketed completely separate from kstatesports operations. I'm sure to many western kansans, a stadium show within 5 hours is the opportunity of a lifetime and worth saving up money all summer for it.
-
Is the new band section not good enough for these prima donnas? smdh
-
$100?!?! Omfg... Jk those prices are reasonable imo. U can't do anything with $100, u guys will complain about anything
-
$100?!?! Omfg... Jk those prices are reasonable imo. U can't do anything with $100, u guys will complain about anything
$100 is fine, but i think it's more the distribution of the pricing that is weird. i mean some of those $100 seats are good and some are horrendous
-
will they sell beer at this thing? I remember when they used to have concerts at Bramlage, they didn't, which is very lol.

Place will be half empty.

What's the point of splitting the lower sections (7, 7A, 8, 8A, etc) if they're going to charge the same price?

I'm guessing they're not going to acquire a license and install taps and beer coolers for a two hour concert.

There are gonna be some pissed off people when they find out there isn't booze

lol no booze what a disaster
-
That's crazy that a family stadium concert promoted by kstatesports isn't going to be quite as wild as the GnR stadium shows.

They could have bev carts, this isn't hard. I will be surprised if they don't serve booze, but who knows.

We have precedence here. They still have to get a license, certainly a different one that allows them to sell to the premium seats.
-
the baseball license wouldn't work?
-
Knowing nothing about it, I would imagine there is some sort of temp event license available. Bud (or whoever) would probably be happy to provide the equipment needed.
-
Lol at having to install beer taps MIR.
-
Train and Zac Brown should go up on the Ring of Honor for grand open'n the NEW BSFS.

Different facility

Prolly so
Lol at having to install beer taps MIR.
Pretty sure I said beer coolers too, unless you think they're going to jam those Pepsi coolers with bud heavy
-
for one night you could have a bunch of tanks full of ice and pallets of canned beer up on the concourse and no one would gaf. but if people are going to sweat their asses off in a cramped stadium on a Saturday without beer, there won't be anyone there.
-
If the people actually selling the beer are licensed bartenders themselves, it shouldn't be a problem.
-
maybe, I just know they've had a few concerts at Bramlage within the last 10-12 years, and there was no alcohol, and people were getting kicked out for trying to sneak flasks in, it was all pretty lol.
-
Not selling beer would be a terrible mistake as $10,000's would be left on the table.
-
Will new turf be installed after this?
-
Will new turf be installed after this?
still holding out hope that with the bowl now closed, after the 2016 season we built the wall (which will be a beautiful wall by the way, as far as walls go) and install new turf wall to wall, just in time for the VenzyCats to take the field in 2017.

That gives me a little more confidence in humanity in seeing that there are only a handful of people stupid enough to pay $160 a pop to go see the Zach Brown Band (and Train). I'll be even more heartened to learn no one bought a ticket in the pit.

Highly true. Well respected indie band for years before Runaway Train ever came out, and from that point forward their next few albums had some really great songs. RD were you one of the lucky 1,200 who saw them at Bramlage? I was, and while me and my friend were waiting for my dad to pick us up after the show at what would eventually be the Ernie Barrett statue, two college guys offered us a puff off their joint. We relied on our DARE training and said NO WAY.

Is that the guy in the commercial who says, "I watched my youtube get more and more views and the next thing you know, I'm a rapper," and then signs his autograph on boobs and then pours champagne on boobs?
-
I don't mind country music at all, enjoy quite a bit of it and some of Zach Brown Band's songs.
I'm one who enjoys all kinds of music though as well, and the fact that it's only country acts that will more than likely come to Manhattan is kind of disappointing.

Don't disrespkt The Game like that.
Nice call. That was an awkward show. Maybe 100 people in front of the Union, sponsored by Call of Duty or something? He brought a girl on stage and was trying to get her topless IIRC
I remember that! I was there. Place was awfully smelly.
Straylight Run played behind the Union onve. I was there
-
There's a commercial that plays on the internet stream for a local sports radio station here. It's for some service that lets you watch concerts of mostly old/dead artists (Queen, Springsteen, Nirvana, Doors, etc.), but today I noticed that one of the other acts they promise is Zac Brown.

This do anything for anyone?
Phillip Phillips joins the the Wildcat Kickoff lineup!

Doubt they sold any of those cheap end zone seats

will they sell beer at this thing? I remember when they used to have concerts at Bramlage, they didn't, which is very lol.
I'm guessing they're not going to acquire a license and install taps and beer coolers for a two hour concert.

my dad estimated 15k, sounds like we can confirm and case close

Most of the reports I've heard from people that went is that it was pretty lame, but whatever, you know?

I don't expect this to happen again. Attendance was under 15k when they were hoping for 40k.

I was wondering how the ticket prices were set. There is no way a bunch of people were going to pay what they were asking for tickets.

well the promoter is stupid AF
-
instead of doing this at BSFS and charging $100/ticket they should do it at like a park nearby and charge $100 and let people camp. and maybe bring in bands that can fill up a whole day, maybe even two-four days.
-

Did Kstate not offer up any guarantee? Did we collect all the fees up front? Wouldn't 12,000 tickets be a loss just on the Kstate facilities expenditures?

I can definitely see the value of ZBB in manhattan but think it's more of a Bram show than BSFS. Blake Shelton did one of these a week or two ago that was really successful.
-
The section I was in was about 90% empty, so yeah the $100+ ticket thing didn't go over well

Right. You only need to cite basically every single non-Stampede attempt at bringing in a national act and putting it in one of our sports venues. Throughout the years, this kind of stuff just flops in MHK. (Hysteria tour Def Lep and Garth Brooks notwithstanding).

That was my first thought, then I looked at his tour because I remember he sold out 7 shows in Tulsa in 30 minutes.
In December he played 6 sold out shows in Wichita. 81,000 people at $75 each. When they opened up the majority of those tickets at once, they sold 65,000 within an hour. As long as he hasn't played KC in the months before, he'd sell out 40,000 in Manhattan.
-
Lol, I forgot that zbb played in kc like 6 weeks earlier  what a giganticly incompetent booking

When I went, which was the fist 2 years it existed, there was only 1 stage. There may be more now but I think there is only 1 main stage and they roll the acts through all day long. It is come an go as you please you just claim your spot early if you want to sit close and bring your own chair. I would say when I went (96, 97) there was 35,000 there during the headliner acts. It looks like the headliners now are bringing 55,000 or so.

Yes, just like AA's metal

Then you have yellow short sleeve polo, with sleeves that go well past his elbows, tucked into short green cargo shorts with braided belt, and Marti Gras beads.
Also, lady next to taz shirt, what are you holding? Whats it with guys in red fist pumping their right hand while yelling whooo? Red tank top 2 rows behind taz is doing it to?
