they are pretty honest about thinking of themselves as a Southern Rock band (ie Allman Bros, Lynryd Syndryd, etc) but country music is where the $ is at

ZBB has topped both the Country and Rock charts at the same time, and they jam in concert. The haters are weird, and maybe they're not the best to listen to at your desk, but they're great live.

I don't mind country music at all, enjoy quite a bit of it and some of Zach Brown Band's songs.

I'm one who enjoys all kinds of music though as well, and the fact that it's only country acts that will more than likely come to Manhattan is kind of disappointing.

I used to have Friends Forever by The Zack Attack (from Saved by the Bell) as my ringtone.  One time it went off in a class in Eisenhower and I played it off like I was so embarrassed, but I wasn't.  I was pretty proud of that 'tone.

Also, this is a great idea -- having a giant concert on a bye week, that is.  We should probably do it every year.

I don't mind country music at all, enjoy quite a bit of it and some of Zach Brown Band's songs.

I'm one who enjoys all kinds of music though as well, and the fact that it's only country acts that will more than likely come to Manhattan is kind of disappointing.

Nice call. That was an awkward show. Maybe 100 people in front of the Union, sponsored by Call of Duty or something? He brought a girl on stage and was trying to get her topless IIRC

I stumbled upon that show walking home from campus. He also pretended to chug an entire liter of GreyGoose and gave a shout out to Steve Jobs iirc. It was really bizarre.

We have precedence here. They still have to get a license, certainly a different one that allows them to sell to the premium seats.

I have now said this probably three times in the last six months, but soul asylum was/is really underrated.

Highly true. Well respected indie band for years before Runaway Train ever came out, and from that point forward their next few albums had some really great songs. RD were you one of the lucky 1,200 who saw them at Bramlage? I was, and while me and my friend were waiting for my dad to pick us up after the show at what would eventually be the Ernie Barrett statue, two college guys offered us a puff off their joint. We relied on our DARE training and said NO WAY.

I don't mind country music at all, enjoy quite a bit of it and some of Zach Brown Band's songs.

I'm one who enjoys all kinds of music though as well, and the fact that it's only country acts that will more than likely come to Manhattan is kind of disappointing.

Don't disrespkt The Game like that.

Nice call. That was an awkward show. Maybe 100 people in front of the Union, sponsored by Call of Duty or something? He brought a girl on stage and was trying to get her topless IIRC

I remember that! I was there. Place was awfully smelly.
Straylight Run played behind the Union onve. I was there

There's a commercial that plays on the internet stream for a local sports radio station here.  It's for some service that lets you watch concerts of mostly old/dead artists (Queen, Springsteen, Nirvana, Doors, etc.), but today I noticed that one of the other acts they promise is Zac Brown.

instead of doing this at BSFS and charging $100/ticket they should do it at like a park nearby and charge $100 and let people camp. and maybe bring in bands that can fill up a whole day, maybe even two-four days.

Did Kstate not offer up any guarantee?  Did we collect all the fees up front?  Wouldn't 12,000 tickets be a loss just on the Kstate facilities expenditures?

That was my first thought, then I looked at his tour because I remember he sold out 7 shows in Tulsa in 30 minutes.

In December he played 6 sold out shows in Wichita.  81,000 people at $75 each.  When they opened up the majority of those tickets at once, they sold 65,000 within an hour.  As long as he hasn't played KC in the months before, he'd sell out 40,000 in Manhattan.

When I went, which was the fist 2 years it existed, there was only 1 stage.  There may be more now but I think there is only 1 main stage and they roll the acts through all day long.  It is come an go as you please you just claim your spot early if you want to sit close and bring your own chair.  I would say when I went (96, 97) there was 35,000 there during the headliner acts.  It looks like the headliners now are bringing 55,000 or so.

Fitz said that Phillip Phillips isn't a good opening act for ZBB, isn't that dude country too?

Right. You only need to cite basically every single non-Stampede attempt at bringing in a national act and putting it in one of our sports venues. Throughout the years, this kind of stuff just flops in MHK. (Hysteria tour Def Lep and Garth Brooks notwithstanding).

Does the Stampede headliner draw 40,000? Seems like a lot of people at Tuttle.
   https://festifind.com/festival/kicker-country-stampede

Right, but does that equate to 40,000 being at the main stage at any one time? I'm asking, never been there.

(https://goemaw.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fksoutdoors.com%2Fvar%2Fnews%2Fstorage%2Fimages%2Fstate_parks%2Flocations%2Ftuttle_creek%2Ftuttle_creek_gallery%2Fcountry_stampede_crowd_at_river_pond%2F133380-1-eng-US%2Fcountry_stampede_crowd_at_river_pond.jpg&hash=c428176e37eaa53d46c32bf8f29d2234d0e0192d)
I'm not good at estimating crowds but here is a decent pic of a full-ish crowd.

haha, what an amaze pic.

I have so many questions and observations.  That pic needs its own thread.

favorite attendee? front row sleeveless taz shirt and huge bearded air puncher are obvious choices but you have to go deeper imo. sleeveless black shirt beast man fist pumping his hat is good, all the older lady reaction shots are good, super hiked up shorts with tube socks and white wife beater mustache guy is great.

to be fair, ZBB isn't really country either, pretty sure PhilPhil is like in the same category as a Dave Matthews, maybe?

"no no that one sucks. it says 'YOU GOT A PROBLEM?' on it in great big letters"

They are so much more than that.  Giant mustache, fist raised, sunglasses on camo hay yelling "whooo".

Also, nothing says "largest country festival in the country" like lined up, cheap, plastic, white chairs.  Also, how the hell are they still lined up so neatly?

Then you have yellow short sleeve polo, with sleeves that go well past his elbows, tucked into short green cargo shorts with braided belt, and Marti Gras beads.

Also, lady next to taz shirt, what are you holding?  Whats it with guys in red fist pumping their right hand while yelling whooo?  Red tank top 2 rows behind taz is doing it to?

The lady in front of him with the blue tank top tucked into her pants that are well above her belly button.

I'm not sure if this is actually being debated or not, but if it was garth brooks instead of zbb then yes, they absolutely without a doubt would have sold 40k tickets. that's a no brainer.

35k max.

IIRC The plastic chairs up front were VIP section! Everybody behind that brings a chair in with 'em. (on a dead sprint like the Bama spring game thing)

If Manhattan had an arena that could hold 100,000, Garth would sell 100,000 seats.

my honest guess is that garth would sell bsfs out and they could then sell 20 dollar tickets for people to watch it on the new scoreboard at bramlage.
