Intermittent fasting.

If i don't eat....i get shaky and light headed. Don't think i would be a good faster.

Used to play poker with a kid who never ate. His hands always shook like hell.

Most people just assumed he was trying to bluff.

Keep trying to start your mower. The movement is similar to chopping wood, which is actually the fastest way to burn calories. If it eventually starts, then you're really in business. Good luck.

Try eating your week's calories in a day then going on water for the next 6 days. Or better yet, plan for the whole winter, eat all of that food in like two weeks, then sleep it off. Seems to work for bears :dunno:

Intermittent fasting.

The absolute worst thing you can do.  :nono:

Eventually, you'll eat again, and when you do it will be double trouble.
Ya...double trouble.     Instead of eating 3k calories throughout the day, you'll be able to pack all 3k in for one meal.   :runaway: :runaway: :runaway:
Where did you get that overnight bag?

I did a 24 hour fast on Sunday. Had a small dinner to break the fast.  Feel pretty good.

Lost 8 lbs so far on my eat less diet

Also, I cut out all pop, so I drink only water now.  Used to drink 2-3 dr. peppers per day at work.

Yeah cutting out 300-450 calories per day will help. :)

The weight you lost is only temporary. You'll put it all back on and then some when you slip up. In the meantime, expect to feel like complete crap, and every time you eat a legitimate size portion of food it will feel like you swallowed a bowling ball.

Nice job with the water, though.

What is a legitimate size portion of food?  I think you may be slightly confused.

Have you ever thought of just using Chop Sticks to eat your food? You get less food per bite, and you'll fill yourself up faster. You'll just have to work on the stress of wanting to snap at any moment in learning how to use them.

You don't lose weight by starving yourself. Any weight loss plan that does not involve exercise is a bad one. Hemmy is so out of shape that he couldn't even start his lawn mower on Saturday. Yet he claims to have lost 8 pounds (in a week?), which, OK, he probably has. But it won't last. And he won't keep the weight off.

I predict a   Hemmy in the weeks to come.

8 pounds in a week is probably a mixture of him being liberal with the actual amount he is lost, water weight, and maybe 1 lb of actual fat loss.

You can lose weight by starving yourself.  You will die, though.   Agree on the exercise part.

You CAN lose weight by fasting, it is a very effective way of burning fat.  Might not be the best solution unless you plan on incorporating fasting in to your lifestyle for good.

this is a very good point. very, very good point. also, i've heard it's best to keep your body guessing. like have five days where you eat the same calorie wise and then have a day where you eat 50% more or something. then a few days back to the same and then a day where you do what saul did where you only eat one meal and then back to the same. keep the body guessing.

example

day   calories
1        1600
2         1600
3         1600
4         1600
5         2100
6         1600
7         1600
8         1600
9           800
10       1600

etc.

thoughts?  :dunno:

My honest thoughts: The body doesn't care about that.  If you can create a caloric deficit of 3500 calories, you will lose 1 pound.  How you do that is up to you.  A combination of eating less, and exercise is the best way.

Psychologically though a "cheat meal" is worth it.  Otherwise you'd go crazy and just quit.

http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

Calculate your BMR to find out how much to eat to create a caloric deficit.  Then use the harris benedict equation.

To determine your total daily calorie needs, multiply your BMR by the appropriate activity factor, as follows:

   1. If you are sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2
   2. If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375
   3. If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55
   4. If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725
   5. If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9

so if i create a 3500 coloric deficit every two weeks then i'll lose 260 lbs in the next ten years? dunno. seems suspicous.  :nono:

Read above.

You will lose weight and your BMR will drop accordingly.  It will become much more difficult to create a 3500 caloric deficit when you only weigh 120 lbs. :ohno:

You are better off sleeping with the window open and "shivering" off your weight than fasting.

You haven't adequately explained why fasting is supposedly bad for you.  Please do.  I'll be back to destroy your faulty logic after I get home from "the gym".

I'm not saying fasting is terrible, but it's not good, either.

If you fast, you aren't giving your body the nutrients it needs. Your body will breakdown muscle tissue for energy. Then you will lose muscle. Then you are just fat. Your metabolism will get screwed up if you do this routinely.

Do you mean consecutively?  :dunno:
