Hearing some rumors that Brownback is interested in the job. (Not an april fools joke unfortunately).

Would be a strategic exit before the elections to help the GOP in the state legislature races.

If he got Kirk's salary, it would be like a 2.5x raise or something. Also, a longer term job, probably. Also also, less of a daily "Hey you're an bad person" interaction with those you represent.

dnr the other stuff but bosco attended the women's studies advisory board dinner thing last night and appeared to be at a solid 3-3.5 on maybe scotch while (extremely respectfully of course) messing with people at like every table. what a magnificent creature

One of the regents leads a search committee of about 20 people. The regent chairing the committee happens to be from Manhattan. The rest of the committee will be a collection of K-State faculty, students, alumni, and a few Manhattan community representatives. They will review potential candidates, narrow it down to about 3-5 people for on campus interviews, and then recommend one person for the BoR to approve.

The entire process will take a few months, possibly even a year. The BoR will appoint an interim president sometime within the next week or so.
