It's fun. There's a piece of attachment if you went to said school. Bragging rights. Chicks dig you if you like their team, etc.

because when the Royals finally win the World Series it makes the rest of your worthless life worth it.
When one person, for whatever reason, has a chance to lead an exceptional life, he has no right to keep it to himself.

Ooo!  It's fun to hang out with your friends that have no real passions in life.

BigCableTV is perpetuating it through dark money to make sure they have a reason for existence.

Most people like to be a) entertained and b) part of something bigger than themselves. Sports is a great way to do both.

That too, but things that matter to me in life are going fairly well.

Throw in being a sports fan and a message boarder and its all even more messy. :D

Do wins and losses really matter though?  You can be entertained, hang out with people, and have fun without caring about wins and losses.

Life is a game of wins and losses. Of course they do.

I have a sports sickness, I'm fully willing to admit that.

Sports can bring together people from all walks of life.   It's relatively non choreographed (with some exceptions) drama and excitement.   There's a lot of lower brow people who like sports, but there's also a lot of really smart and interesting people who like sports.

If you are a competitive person, yes. If you aren't, probably not, but then I wouldn't understand why you would care about sports.

i think the main thing I like is that sports are live and don't have a predetermined ending
unless you play us because we suck

Maybe I'm getting burned out, because I have always been an extremely competitive person.  My entire life I have had to win and would live and die with every single game I played, coached or watched.  Maybe the years of intense caring has exhausted me to the point of apathy.  Now I'd rather casually half watch a game while doing something else than pace the floor and bite my nails.
