I'm a lot better at handling losses than I use to be. I don't know if that's maturity, being bruced, not having a soul anymore, etc.

Do wins and losses really matter though?  You can be entertained, hang out with people, and have fun without caring about wins and losses.

If you are a competitive person, yes. If you aren't, probably not, but then I wouldn't understand why you would care about sports.

Maybe I'm getting burned out, because I have always been an extremely competitive person.  My entire life I have had to win and would live and die with every single game I played, coached or watched.  Maybe the years of intense caring has exhausted me to the point of apathy.  Now I'd rather casually half watch a game while doing something else than pace the floor and bite my nails.

That's true for me a bit as well, but when I start watching I still tend to get into games.

For a while now I have allowed sports to effect me positively, but not negatively. I like it that way

I feel like I'm losing interest in all sports. In high school I watched them because I played them. In college I watched them because the energy and excitement is right in front of your face for 4 years. Social bonding, partying, campus pride, etc. But these days I barely get the time to sit down at watch them during the week. I might still watch them on the weekend if I have no plans but the free time is filled up with Ms. Abe, a nice restaurant or home cooked/smoked meals, catching up with friends, or travelling. It's still nice to have them as an option but overall they've fallen far on the priorities list.

My man.   :combofan:

To care about sports as far as rooting, you have to like the individuals competing and want to support them, same as supporting a friend in whatever endeavor they're doing.

To care about them in general, it's either liking the sporting event as an entertainment option or liking to be informed of something that's prevalent here.  I watch PTI religiously, but don't ever make a point of watching the non-KSU/Seahawks sports they talk about.  Highlights and funny discussion are sufficient for sports.

It really is.  I'd have been hard-pressed to get a 'cut in.  At this rate, I'm thinking I'll just let it go until I have to look nice for Angel.

reason to binge with your bros

one should never need a reason for that.
when you and your bros start having kids the happenstance binging becomes very rare.  The schedule of sports creates some organization that is needed for binging to continue with any regularity.

A) A close competition is incredibly entertaining. I don't care about the Cardinals or the Packers but that game was more entertaining than anything on TV because like many have said, the outcome is undecided and its live drama.
B) Its a wonderful metaphor for life.
C) Connects you to other people.
D) Watching someone do something you cannot is cool. I played baseball but can't hit like Lorenzo Cain. Watching people do something at its highest level inspires. The talent, work, discipline needed to get there is special.
E) Makes us feel like kids

Would a world without sports be a better place?  Food for thought.

And not like if sports were taken away now, because you would miss them.  But if sports never existed.  Hmmmm.

what if there were sports but the entire world was under water without any light (very deep oceanic caverns/crevices)?

For me, the happier I am away from sports, the less wins and losses impact me. I just enjoy being entertained.

What if at the beginning of a sports match the teams were designated by a secret committee and you didn't even know what team you were on until after the game was over?

Sports can bring together people from all walks of life.   It's relatively non choreographed (with some exceptions) drama and excitement.   There's a lot of lower brow people who like sports, but there's also a lot of really smart and interesting people who like sports.

I'm a lot better at handling losses than I use to be. I don't know if that's maturity, being bruced, not having a soul anymore, etc.
