The money is one thing.  The ramp up of security overreach, violation of basic privacy, and the amt of fear mongering is worse than the money spent.

 I'm asking the "isis isn't a big deal" crowd if they truly think isis (and other terror groups) would be the same it is today without our efforts to destroy/undermine them.

And I generally agree the costs aren't worth the marginal benefit, but I'm not so flippant and naive to say isis isn't a significant problem.

I mean, there's no question we've spent an obscene amount of money fighting terrorism (or whatever we call what we're doing now), but are you actually arguing those efforts have not done anything to curtail or prevent another 9/11 type event?

I suppose if you had to argue the incremental cost isn't worth the lives saved, but that's entirely too pragmatic.

It's hard to say, CNN took down the death counter as soon as b.o. began leading the attacks. Based on what al quaeda did on 9/11, had we just said welp that's a one off event and changed nothing, I would guess many many more innocent people would be dead.

You see the comments in that article? I got tired of looking for one supportive of the wapo. Here's the thing the establishment needs to understand with Trump and Sanders, the general populace has watched Washington deteriorate and simply not function for the better part of an entire generation now. This may not be the exact time that we see a change on how things are done but it's coming and this is a start not the end of this. The only thing Washington can seem to agree to is where we're going to fight next. Both parties like to spend their time telling Americans how bad things are and the people are starting to believe them. Sanders and Trump don't need the media, they are populists who are giving people something to believe in.

I personally am now trying to avoid Trump altogether, it's not easy given the media coverage, but I don't proactively seek any articles, nor watch any news clips that pertain specifically to Trump.   While I appreciate some of the points he has made, they are merely points that he doesn't back up with any depth or substance.

I'm not sure. I do take offense to the msm who think that Hillary will get all of us to vote for her because she continually says "Barack Obama." If I were to guess I'd think the demographics for the black voters will be similar to white voters. The young and educated black voters will go with Bernie and the older black voters who are generally more moderate will vote with her.

I do know she has a real problem with Hispanic voters though.

I would assume that Bernie catching up in the national polls, as of this week, the near tie in Iowa, and the expected ass kicking he will drop on Hill in the next one, he will seem much more viable of a candidate to any democrat voter and therefore have a better shot at taking the bullshit "firewall" that hill has been claiming.
 
He has much more of a shot than most media is giving him, imo.
