This thread was fun for a while, now it's just depressing. Venzy isn't coming is he?
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

Ok, so I did some digging over the holidays and unfortunately had to interrupt some family time to see if this rumor had legs.

Based on three people I spoke with, who have previous ties to K-State and likely connections to Venables, none of them have heard such a rumor about BV coming back this offseason as HCIW.

How reliable are these sources? One I would think to be pretty well in tune with things, the other two I really can't say. Therefore, I'm not going to say there's absolutely no way and/or that this rumor is 100% false. Time will tell, but the men I interacted with sure acted surprised to hear the rumor because they hadn't heard a peep of anything related to BV.
Sounds like a total Wallace move.

There is a weird amount of negative attitude right now over a rumored failure to fill a position that has yet to be vacated.

Nothing has changed from what I've heard.  And from what I've heard, people who would be in a position to know are being tight lipped.

We weren't going to hear a damn thing until after Clemson got done anyway.  Maybe not until after signing day.

Does anyone think that maybe, just maybe, if there were news on something like this with a coach in the playoffs, we'd put a gag order on it because the second Tim Fitzgerald or his band of dipshits finds out about it, it's all over the front page of GoPowercat.com?  Because the last time that happened, it worked out really well.

Kind of glad at this point Patterson got Fitz'd up.  :Yuck: the though of sweaty Gary constantly pulling at his waist band on the KSU sideline. No thanks.

Not going to get my hopes up, but this does make sense.

Alabama's DC was hired as Georgia's coach because no one waits until after bowl games to announce coaching changes.

Nothing is happening because Bill isn't retiring.

Brent and Dabo are very tight.  If something were to happen, I doubt that Brent would make anything public before the playoffs are over. They wouldn't want the distraction.

And we've established that Bill isn't retiring this year, and if Brent comes, it's as HCIW or whatever it will be.  Georgia had a true vacancy.  We won't.

Okay, if Bill retires this year, it will be a pretty big surprise since he said he's coming back in Bill-speak.

Yeah, but the placement of strikes and steals has been really well done.  He did good work.

I agree with this. But assuming these elaborate plots are in the works is kind of fun. It's like a Tom Clancy football novel. The Sum of All EMAWS.

Panj, if you couldn't decipher my posts as nothing more than me declaring that the first 2 guesses at who actually made my ridiculous "had to ditch family time to check the rumors and they're either right or they're wrong" post were incorrect, and that the 3rd guess was correct, you might want to take a step back from the hciw detective business and regroup.  This whole thing is getting to you.

Eh, I'm on vacation and I'm bored.  Also haven't been sleeping much the last couple of months, so okay.  Good to know.

The key piece for those who don't want to read it:

Quote
When Venables left Kansas State to join Stoops at Oklahoma for the 1999 season, he heard criticism, especially after Kansas State lost the 1998 Big 12 title game in double overtime to Texas A&M. It still bothers him and he promised to never replicate that feeling. "I always felt very disappointed that people associated me with looking at another job while I had a job and that affected my job," he says. "I know it didn't in my heart of hearts. I live with that still. [People saying] there was a lack of loyalty or whatever."
