I just want to win right away, and if a coach in his 60s gives us the best chance of doing that, then we should hire him.

He's the AD at Youngstown State, he hired Bo and Carl and he's a billion years old.

he is only 62, good grief.

Wow, those are some hard years, he's not aging well. Anyway as far as being a power 5 head coach he's a billion years old. The two hottest coaching candidates are 20 years younger and PJ Fleck is half his age.

He might not be a good candididate but it's certainly not age related.  Old dudes are running college football.  The average age of the coaches of the ten best teams right now is 57.

Yeah none of them were in their 60s when they took their jobs. He's old, you don't replace a 76 year old with a guy in his 60s. This is very obvious, I feel like you are arguing for the sake of arguing.
I would hire the crap out of 64 year old Mack Brown.

Oh so we're not doing the thing anymore when we think we're better than hiring a coach that got fired for being terrible at his previous stop? Dude literally stopped recruiting at freaking Texas and you want him at Kansas State, lol.

Unfortunately none of those exist in the current market.

I would take Mack Brown in an instant.  I don't agree that he was terrible at his previous stop or that he stopped recruiting.

It wasn't that Brown stopped recruiting, it actually got to be too easy and they were just taking guys by their high school stud credentials and not properly evaluating how they fit into the system and program.

Proper evaluation seems like a major part of recruiting. If you stop doing that then you effectively stopped recruiting.

It wasn't a matter of not recruiting QB's MIR, it was recruiting the wrong ones.

The dude won a national title and is the winningest or second winningest coach in Texas history.   He transformed Texas athletics from a program that while it had money it wasn't as much as you would have thought, into a nearly unrivaled financial super power.

The problem was that recruiting got to be to easy.

It's not completely inaccurate, although I feel you have to consider evaluation to be a major part of "recruiting."

UT could have had RG III and Manziel at QB. They just failed to see those guys' potential and would only recruit them for other positions because UT thought they were set at QB.

Just the other day I was reading you post about how '04 and '05 was totally not LHC Bill Snyder's fault for misevaluating busts after recruiting got easier like Nick Patton, Matt Boss, and Chris Boggas. And I was also reading you talking about how it's a good idea to recruit to a system and evaluate right fits and not nust snatch up every star you can get and K-State has been really good at that, just unlucky with injuries.

Oh wait, none of those things happened you rough ridin' hypocrite. Shut up.Your dumbass month long temper tantrum on here stands in direct contrast with your view on how Mack Brown's coaching career ended.

Does anyone really think that. at this point in his career, Mack Brown would come to KSU and give anything more than Charlie Weis level effort?

Kstate having a four or five star problem has never happened.  Brown literally had a four or five star problem.

Yeah, it's a wonder Alabama ever wins more than 9 games with all these 5 star guys to pick from. It's really too easy, I'm sure they'll start to decline.

That pretty much has nothing to do with nothing, but thanks for helping me remember that Mack was a hurt starting QB away from a second national title.
