I don't think Bill will retire this year and venzy will get a cusa job or something
Bill is not retiring this year. He's going nowhere until he has 200 wins. Brent isn't going to take a pay cut to coach a cusa team.
Look, I don't know if we'll get Venzy. It won't be this year, it will be next...probably. Find the schools that pay $2.5M a year and those are the ones that can afford him. Who so far this year can afford him? A handful of teams? If he stays at Clem, he's ours.
Some of the rumblings I'm hearing include whomever comes in takes the title of "Assistant HC" (or something similar) and basically retools the entire staff with LHCBS acting as a "figurehead HC" only and getting credit on lifetime record for next season wins to get to 200 as he takes a "victory lap" and gets a standing ovation at every stadium we play in.
The unexpected benefit for somebody like a Venzy with no HC experience is that they can start their program build with their year one record not showing on their lifetime win percentage. So, let's say hypothetically we go 7-5 or 6-6 next year while he ramps up recruiting... If he gets hot the next couple of years, his "career record" is maybe 20-4 rather than 26-10 or so and that too has a bit of value.
