I don't think Bill will retire this year and venzy will get a cusa job or something

Bill is not retiring this year. He's going nowhere until he has 200 wins. Brent isn't going to take a pay cut to coach a cusa team.

Look, I don't know if we'll get Venzy. It won't be this year, it will be next...probably. Find the schools that pay $2.5M a year and those are the ones that can afford him. Who so far this year can afford him? A handful of teams? If he stays at Clem, he's ours.

Some of the rumblings I'm hearing include whomever comes in takes the title of "Assistant HC" (or something similar) and basically retools the entire staff with LHCBS acting as a "figurehead HC" only and getting credit on lifetime record for next season wins to get to 200 as he takes a "victory lap" and gets a standing ovation at every stadium we play in.

The unexpected benefit for somebody like a Venzy with no HC experience is that they can start their program build with their year one record not showing on their lifetime win percentage. So, let's say hypothetically we go 7-5 or 6-6 next year while he ramps up recruiting... If he gets hot the next couple of years, his "career record" is maybe 20-4 rather than 26-10 or so and that too has a bit of value.

Someone tell me about Willie Taggert. He's gonna be our next coach, isn't he?

I mean Taggart is doing as good of a job at USF as that moron Leavitt some people on here keep pining for.

Rhoads is a good man. His players loved him, and the next time you hear a coaching colleague say an unflattering word will be the first.

Quote
“I worked really, really hard trying to find somebody who would tell me that oscar Weber could not get it done, that oscar Weber is not a good coach or that oscar Weber’s got a problem or some other thing,” he said. “To be honest, the further I dug, the better and better it got, because I simply couldn’t find anything.”

Guys, Currie would have to be a rough ridin' idiot to not hire the top DC of the current top Football program in the nation.  Not only that, he was a coach on three different Football programs that were ranked #1 in the nation at least once in the past.
How about one of the worst defenses in the Pac12 instead?  Same thing right?

DC, big conference.  2 similarities, only 1 difference!

All I got out of it was this: "I know that on the surface there may seem to be a lot of reasons to hire him as well, such as having back to back top defenses, reloading after losing the full front 7 and not missing a beat and being the DC of the current #1 team in the country, but please be extremely careful.".

The OP and half the posters are Clemson fans' tongue-in-cheek comments hoping to dissuade interest in BV from other schools' fans.

Save for a handful of elites, what other school would not an alum and former assistant like BV be a slam dunk for the job? It's so rough ridin' obvious, Currie should have no choice.
It would also give Currie cover, which should give the bastid some comfort. It's a popular pick with (most) fans as well as a sound selection. The only down side for Currie is that it doesn't let him look like some kind of talent selection genius, which is why he probably won't do it.
yep, I think our only hope is after Currie strikes out on the Fuentes and Kirby Smart types his self preservation instinct over comes his ambition forcing him to hire BV.

I am still scared shitless it will end a Mike Riley type that is just resetting the shot clock but looks ok to good on paper.  Has Todd Graham started wearing a normal headset or is he still going for that aerobics instructor vibe?
