When McDermott left Northern Iowa, he told his UNI commits to maintain their commitments to UNI. It will be interesting to see if he does the same at Iowa State.

either way they won't if they have somewhere better to go.

So... Who could ISU actually get?

billy clyde, he's begging for a job

i'm terrified of this.

he offers EVERYONE.  Don't know how frank will hide recruits from him.

more documented mentions?   :pbj:

Between neck and dude at Auburn, what is it about coaches at ISU failing that makes them attractive to other schools? I fear it's that other schools view ISU as a place that you can't win at. Hope I'm wrong Havehills.  :crossfingers:

Creighton bball isn't exactly Auburn fball, d00d.

between bcg, marquette and baylor there wouldn't be a kid over 14 in the state of texas without an offer.

brentblum    If GMAC leaves, the Donnell Bivens streak lives..no ISU MBB scholarship player has played 4 years under the same coach since Bivens (90-94).

Hey Havs, how you feel about Chris Williams suggestion of promoting Otzelberger into the head gig?  Kind of like the KSU/Martin hire to keep the recruiting class intact?

  Spie' in the North is a scary thought.

Interesting.  Who was our last?  I know Pullen breaks the streak next year, but it's been a while...since Dies/Rhodes?  I'm not sure Wooly had any 4 year scholarship players.  Maybe Travis Canby?

I've dealt with him personally, and I felt like I was talking to someone my own age. Could be a good thing and could be a bad thing. Nick Nurse is high on a lot of people's lists right now.

My list goes (in no particular order):

Brian Gregory
Billy Gillispie
John Beilein (only reason is because our last hire from Michigan could be classified as successful  ;) )
Larry Eustachy
Nick Nurse
Jim Les
Danny Manning
Ben Jacobson
Keno Davis
Gregg Marshall
Mark Montgomery
Jeff Hornacek

I realize it stings a little more to have Creighton poach your coach vs Auburn, but the point still remains: They sucked at ISU, yet other schools think it could work out for them. The only logic behind that is if, at a minimum, Auburn and Creighton think that they are good coaches, but it's just too hard to win at ISU.

Mac had Valley success, but couldn't get bigger, better players to compete and fight for him. Coaches can win at Iowa State, and suggesting otherwise is stupid. Using that logic, winning is also impossible at Kansas State as well.

Mac isn't exactly a good motivator. His only motivation to win at KSU this year was because he hates the Wabash Cannonball song at the end of games.

I would have personally delivered Coach McDermott to Creighton.

Yeah, Canby would've been our last to do it.

Tommy Amaker.

There seems to be a grass roots movement for Lon Kruger over on Cyclonefanatic.  That makes sense, given that we'll be in the same conference as him within the next two years.
