imagine what my 7th grade buddy's drunk unemployed dad could have done with this when he was coaching my baseball team. just incredible wasted talent probably.

hell yeah. that's basically a rapsodo which we use in baseball (and does golf too). can drag it into a cage or pitching lane. the technology is wild.

we have hitrax at our indoor facility and it's the same thing but less mobile.

also you can add "juice" to the hits. so we'll line the kids up to bat and add whatever multiplier so they'll be hitting at yankee stadium or wherever we pick and can hit them out. adds a lot of gamification to it which the kids love.

That is fantastic. I would have definitely moved from sucking to serviceable with something like that as a kid. crap, I probably only got to swing at real pitches once a week for 10 minutes max.

Similar deal with the golf stuff. The first 3 minutes of this video show what this thing can do. Basically demystifying what is happening in your swing. Also allows you to really learn your club distances and preferences in clubs.

Trying to convince Mrs SF to put a "shed" in the back yard so I can set something like this up. Maybe add a third garage bay? Just need the space.

Would definitely work in one bay of a garage or a 1 car size shed. Just need to try and get a 9 foot ceiling if possible. They say you can do 8 foot in a pinch if you don’t have freaks like clams come over.

Indoor Swing Syndrome is real. Changing your backswing/follow through/finish because of limited space will only make you a worse golfer.

If you have the opportunity to create your space, go ahead and make it bigger than what you're already considering.

Good advice. I will do that.

This is what I want am going to do:

Expect it’s going to be in my filthy rough ridin' garage.  Will put down a giant carpet remnant and throw in some old couches. Boom done.

Will likely end up looking something like this. The rough ridin' Hondas can rot in the driveway.

Is going to end up a bit smaller in width, unfortunately. However, I’m going with a different launch monitor (Uneekor Eye Mini Lite) that allows me to save some space behind the hitter. I’m using the savings for a laser 4K projector and high speed swing cameras.

With this I will surely move from sucking balls to being not good.

you’ll need some padding underneath the carpet

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Putting sucks on simulators. The cool kids practice putting separate from the golf simulator. Just an old school putting mat will work for indoor practice.

Yeah, the hitting mat will be a high end mat with loads of padding. https://fiberbuiltgolf.com

The other area will have carpet pad and carpet remnant on top just to make it more comfortable than 50 year old garage floor.

Someday, when I do my dream addition to my little cabin I want to put a dedicated golf sim etc in a heated outbuilding/garage.  Walleye sim in winter is ice fishing and I have no interest in that since I don’t do booze. Ice shanties and ice fishing are about getting absolutely crap faced, best I can tell.

I'm looking at getting back into golf after not playing since my daughter was born, over ten years at this point. I don't have my clubs anymore - does anyone have any recommendations for a decent set that isn't crazy expensive? I'm left-handed, so buying used clubs is a pain in the ass, or at least I remember it being frustrating when I golfed in high school.

I’m the same way, haven’t played much over the last 10 years and getting back into it. I use 2ndswing.com to buy everything used.  In my opinion, irons haven’t come nearly as far as drivers and hybrids.  I am currently using a set of 2002 Callaway big Bertha irons (SW-7), Ping Hybrids instead of long irons (G430’s) and a Ping G430 (not the latest 10K), and bought them all used.  The irons were cheap. Lots of threads on Reddit both in favor and against the Maltby ratings (link below), but they seem to be pretty accurate in judging how forgiving a given iron set will be. That’s why I went with the old 2002 Bertha irons.

And I don’t bother with fairway woods. I am at best 50-50 with a 3W.  Instead if I just hit a nice little hybrid 3 (comparable with a 3 iron) I will be out of trouble and frequently just as far down the fairway.  I’m not landing shots on par 5’s green in 2, so why rough ridin' bother to risk an iffy shot. Get to within 50 -100 after 2 and try and get on and 2 put.

Yeah, feels much less like a garage.
