You hit off mats there.

Stagg Hill and Colbert both have ranges, but I'm pretty sure they'll be more expensive. Colbert allows you to hit off grass if that's important, I don't remember if Stagg is grass or mats.

I'd play. I am not very good, but enjoy it a lot. Let's see if schedules can work out.

If you are going to be in Manhattan a while, you should join Wildcat Creek. It cost $35 a month, but you can play golf as much as you want (walking, cart is extra) plus you get free range balls and they have a work out place if you are interested. When I started playing I joined and played 4-5 times a week in the summer. It's a nine hole course with 3 par 4s and 6 par 3s. Lots of different shots and only takes an hour to an hour and a half to play 9. Great deal and will improve your game.

bunter, waks and I all got memberships there specifically for this purpose. their schedules have allowed them to get a lot more use out of it than I, though.
