I've been eating left over brisket this week from the weekend cook.  Good stuff.

Clams, have you seen this thing?  Thoughts?

http://www.surlatable.com/product/kitchen+%26+bar+tools/outdoor+grilling/grilling+tools/pizzaque+grill-top+pizza+stone.do?sortby=ourPicks#
i've seen one similar, william sonoma used to sell it, let me check if they still do.
they do, it's the same one.

i think they're awesome.  honestly, you don't really need a stone, you can put the pizza directly on your grill grate and over the flame.  it won't sink in between even though you think it would.  you can also just take your indoor stone and put it on top of your grill.  it won't fit great but it doesn't really matter as long as you can mostly close the lid over it.

Seems like overkill but very convenient :dunno:
that's pretty much it, makes it easier but not all that much.

also, i know you're scared to make dough but if you ask most of the local pizza places around you they will sell you dough for cheap that you can use.

Cool.  I can get 600+ if I crank all 3 burners.

600 is just about perfect.  what you're wanting to do is evaporate the water out of the dough as quickly as you can, this leads to a crispier crust.  here's a good walk through- notice how they grill the crust, flip it, then top it.  that's the easiest way to get down with it your 1st time

How hot does the outside of the BGE get when all fired up to cook a pizza?

I have used a BGE to grill fish, burgers, etc and liked the fact the outside of the BGE never gets too hot (usually packs of unruly kids in my yard when grilling).

When you have it up that hot it gets hot on the outside too.  I would guess the ceramic is 3/4 inch think or maybe 1 inch.

What'd you start with?

Just threw on some Jiffy pizza dough at about 350. When you think you're able to flip it, do it. After you flip it, throw the toppings on and bake (close top) until cheese melts and it's not burned. I threw on mozzarella slices, pepperoni,  pine nuts, garlic, and banana peppers. Basically whatever i could find. Will try a pesto pizza this weekend.

This sounds pretty great. Love LOVE pine nuts (Lebanese wife introduced me to these). Basically, all contributions I could add to this thread are old-world recipes from her parents and Franco-Libano recipes from her sister/brother-in-law (who run a restaurant in Wichita).

Also, I got this confused with the CCBT (which it rightfully belonged in).
