woof.

There are several contests throughout the week which are scored and or judged, most points win. Just an IMO but perhaps you should get more involved with things on campus, it will enrich your overall experience and maybe it will help with the underlying resentment of your peers based on where they live and extracurricular activities they do.

i don't remember doing anything for homecoming when i lived in the dorms (508 haymaker), and clubs or organizations aren't really my thing, so my only exposure to homecoming was the plywood painting things and the floats and i was unaware it was a competition with a winner.

and i'm not sure where you are getting that i have some "underlying resentment" of frats.  one of my favorite people on this here blog was in a frat.  i don't really care what people do.  pointing out that they do some weird stuff isn't resentment, and as long as participants are willing i don't really care.  i'm very live and let live mir.  sounds like maybe you have a little underlying resentment of people who don't want to participate in those kind on things?

how do they determine a homecoming "winner"?

Are you  seriously that detached from the student life at your school? How sad. You didn't live in a resident hall or belong to a student org? Homecoming isn't just for Greeks.

Outside of a few weirdos, homecoming is just for Greeks.

What? Every residence hall and many student organizations participate in homecoming festivities.

You've felt the need to point out that fraternities "do weird stuff" enough that it's obvious that you feel differently about people in fraternities than you do people not in fraternities. I hate to be the one to break this news to you but people not in fraternities do weird stuff too, I'm not going to point that out 36 different times though.

I'm going to assume that if you told an Iowa State fan they were weird, they would rightfully point out that K-State fans do weird crap too :dunno:

Yes, I believe so. Although, I've got many awesome tri delt stories. My buddy lived in a house (actual house, not a frat) right across the street from them on the corner. They'd come over there all the time to drink. I got to know those ladies very well. Many of them are Vegas cocktail waitresses now (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Were they running a bar out of that house?
I lived across from the tri delta house. Some guys who lived immediately next door to them tried to have a margarita stand once. Took Manhattan's finest about 20 minutes to show up, lights blazing.

When I lived in Woodway, my neighbors got busted for "operating an illegal saloon".  They weren't smart enough to give the keg beer away for free with purchase of a solo cup.

Obviously should have gone with a "lemonade" stand...

 :buh-bye:

Lemme get this straight, girl meets 18 year old boy at a rally in which girl is fighting for her rights to show her boobs in public, boy asks girl to show her boobs, girl responds by putting their conversation on the internet and uses the interaction to rail against rape culture; did I get that right?

Obviously SAE Boobs is obviously sophomoric and misogynistic, but did she really need to out this kid without talking to him first? She seemed more interested in going viral than actually handling the issue here.
