Can you imagine when there is some big 10 mailing addressed to "NU" but was supposed to go to Northwestern and ends up in Lincoln? Nebraska person trying to read something intended for Northwestern:"dur der dar, *coughsneeze* deer, dahr door"
Neither can Houston. "Yeah, but that Houston market is huge!" Nobody there even knows Houston U.'s mascot.

From insidery source here in Arkansas:UofA AD Jeff Long when asked about possibility of joining Big 12: "No way in hell."
adding a team that's currently not a BCS team would be incredibly dumb (pac-12 )the university of gigantic china city might have 50 million students and 100 million households that either own or build TVs, but only 25 people are football fans

"The Pac-10 airplane was flying around, and they had to drop off the Pac-10 attorney, who had family in Kansas City," Mr. Schulz said. "People were tracking the tail number of the airplane, so this rumor went out that the Pac-10 was coming to Kansas City to invite the University of Kansas as the next member of the Pac-10. I talked to the athletic director at Kansas, and he said, 'They're just dropping the attorney off. There's nothing to it.' It was all inaccurate information that just spread like wildfire."
Texas seems a strange candidate to me. They already have their fiefdom here. I think if this goes down UT gets the band back together and repurposes a big 8/10 swc combo:okie schools, ks schools all the texas schools, + maybe tcu and/or houston/rice. Warm up your southern road trips!
Wichita State knows what I'm talkin 'bout
