A&M is by far the worse, they are absolutely desperate to prove they're every bit as good as Texas.   That's one reason why they have such huge financial problems in their athletic department, from trying to keep up with Texas.   Pathetic.

it's due to Texas Legislative pressures.  their Legislature is going to be pissed, so this way UT gets to say "see, we tried, A&M ddin't want to, go yell at them" when in reality UT always wanted to go.

that was old big 12.  new big 12, it is a realistic enough possibility to discuss.  the money would be closer to equal, and nu & cu are gone, leaving just isu as a school that arkansas doesn't "fit" with.  bring in lsu, louisville or memphis with arkansas... and they're suddenly closer to the center of a conference than they've ever been.

it makes more sense than a lot of the proposed school moves discussed in the last couple of weeks.

Shut up.  Stop it.  SHUT UP.  The freaking LSU Tigers are not going to leave the SEC to come to the freaking Big 12 to play Kansas State.  I have lived in Baton Rouge for 3 years now and no one -- NO ONE -- there knows or gives a rat's ass about Kansas State or any other Big 12 teams, for that matter.  Last night's rumor of "I'm hearing grumblings that LSU might accompany Arkansas into the Big 12!" is seriously the dumbest thing I've heard since this entire thing began.

The departure of Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to the Pac-10 is imminent, four sources within the Big 12 said Monday.

One source said commissioner Dan Beebe's last-minute plan to save the conference has "zero" chance to succeed. Another source said it is "very unlikely" to succeed.

Texas' interests in being aligned with the research opportunities and academic missions of Pac-10 schools is driving the decision, along with money.

Beebe's last-ditch plan included an emotional plea about preserving rivalries and maintaining the best welfare of the student-athlete, one source said.

Texas A&M is now most likely to join the SEC, a source within the Big 12 said. This move, in the wake of Colorado and Nebraska's departure, would further diminish the chance of Beebe's plan succeeding, one source said.

Texas' decision is expected to come no later than Tuesday. One source familiar with Texas' plans suggested a hearing on Wednesday at the Texas House of Representatives is "a nonfactor."
