I'm kinda thinking it would be cool to compete against schools that have budgets similar to ours for once.  Where would   Where would our budget rank in the MWC?  Higher than 2nd to last, right?  Getting tired of trying to keep up with the UTs, Nubbs, A+Ms, OUs, etc.

Why?  It's more fun to own teams with triple your budget than beating teams with an equal budget (who are irrelevant on the national sports scene).

If you think we get left out of discussions in KC now?  Wait until we're in a crap conference and the squawks are in a big boy league.

MWC is crap.  I'm with Ok_Cat

:lick: Thats Elite right there... Who needs Wyoming? right?

Get rid of SMU and SDSU or AF and it'd be more elite.
No way, not SDSU, that place is one of the sexiest campuses on earth.

Sorry, but beating UT< actually being competitive in football.  $$$ is what makes college football go round and we don't have enough of it.  Yeah, you can create and even maintain a quality b-ball team with what we have but we're not going to win any CCGs any time in the forseeable future.  Neither is ISU, Baylor, KU, etc.

MWC is more on the crappy side of things, but the Big East looks equally crappy without 'Cuse and/or Pitt

KU             Louisville
KSU           Rutgers
ISU            USF
MU             WV
Cincy

^^^^^^ Not much of a football conf.

I say 2 division pot-luck coast-to-coast conference is where it's at.

None of this changes no matter what conf we go to.  That is why we should pick the BB conf.

Big East will be fantastic, can't wait.

Why anyone wants to try and put the Big 12 back together is strange.

Well said, PW, well said.

The Big 12 is dead, let's jump ship ASAP.  Imagine playing hoops against Georgetown, UConn, and 'Cuse every season.

RPI

I'd rather rake in the free $2-3M next yr, then go.  Unless everyone bolts tomorrow, then I'm all in for going on Monday.

big east sucks.

Exactly.  KSU could be totally relevant in football again immediately there.   :lynchmob:

So you prefer national irrelevancy?  Ask TCU how much exposure they got before January, and they were a top 3 team dude.  Being in a big boy conference is EVERYTHING.  If we don't have enough $$$ now how do you think the MWC is going to help that?

I thought this board was supossed to be elite.  Why are all you guys wanting us to settle into a 3rd rate league?

really though that is a pretty elite football conference traditonal powers SMU, BYU; up and comers UH, MU, Boise, TCU, Utah, and teams with potential KSU, KU, SDSU [now that they could recruit to a BCS program]

(better than ACC and Big East)

Baksteball lineup of KSU, KU, Baylor, UNLV, Mizzou, BYU, Utah would be fairly legit as well

(better than Big 10 and probably Pac 10)

p.s. i would rather ditch CSU than AF

(Fort Collins :nono: Colorado Springs  )

Why?  Ft. Collins has a better "downtown" experience (Old Town) than the Springs does (Old Colorado City).  But if you are talking more about a weekend trip, than yeah, the Springs has a lot to offer.  But for a road trip football game, I'd pick Ft. Collins.

Not better than Cinci, Louisville, Pitt, USF, or WVU. We'd just be middle of the pack in a different division.

Ft Collins is absolutely awful. Colorado Springs is pretty much the greatest place ever.

And as I said . . . Hugs, good gawd, they could sell 40,000 tickets for that game.

Outdoors in BSFS. 60,000 with field seats. :doom:

They'd play it in IBA.

ohhhh, forgot about Chicago for hoops.  I would do that.  Curious to get michigancat's and GOSP's take on this new development

It'd be cool if :AA: would set up a bunch of extra MHK flights for those weeks.

We seldom got any national exposure in the Big 12 (since 2003, anyway) unless it was highlights of TTU or OU lighting us up anyway.  How many games were televised last year?  How many were televised outside of very select markets?  This board is elite, but it based on our b-ball team's eliteness.  Nothing elite about a .500 football team that loses to La La.  The MWC allows us to compete on a more level field, while still allowing or b-ball team to flourish.  We can have Butler like success in conference and our noncon gives us the op to show our eliteness against other elites.  Could be a blast.

yeah UH, TCU, Boise, BYU, and Utah have been shortchanged by the media due to the lack of BCS status.

consolidating those schools and adding KSU, KU, ISU, MU, BU provide teams and legitimacy needed for BCS inclusion

problem solved

All based on hoping and praying that someone notices us and awards us a BCS bid.  Not gonna happen.  Bigger conf's will get the additional bid and we will be in a lesser league claiming that we were screwed.

As soon as we leave a BCS league, we're playing catch up.  In Hoops too.  No more Big Mondays.  No more college gamedays.

We've sucked in football, but the Big XII gives us hope for national exposure.  The last time our football took the field it was an ESPN Sat. night game, and we were a .500 team.  It matters.  ku sucked ass for a million years, has one season, and it ends with the most watched game of the season nationally.  that doesn't happen in some afterthought MWC crap league.  We had a 3 loss season take us to a Fiesta Bowl man.  I know it was 6 years ago, but its still relavant.  A 3 loss season in the MWC gets you playing on December 21st.

I don't get why this is so difficult for your brain to comprehend.  BCS is everything today.  Everything.

We were on national tv cause Suh was lined across the ball.  And you really think if we were in the same situation as KU and Mizzou, the game wouldn't be nationally televised?  An undefeated KSU team playing an undefeated Utah, TCU, Utah, etc in the last game of the regular season?  We're not going to ever be a powerhouse in football again, if we ever were.  We can play the underdog- put together a couple nice classes and make a run as a BCS buster.  Thats what schools like KSU do.  We don't open the season as a favorite to win a NC like OU or UT.  We don't have a zillion Heimans and NCs like Nubb.  We have 10 years of success and a hall of fame coach.  Thats it.  Plus, the east coast smells like dead bodies floating in a polluted river.  MHK is much more like the MWC than it is to NYC.

Geezus . . . really.

Slice out the "new" Big East "corridor" on the map, and then Circle the "new" MWC "corridor" on the map.    Then lets talk dollars and cents.

It's no contest . . . realizing all the variables, but lets go to fantasy land for a second and pretend that the Big 12 Refugee 4 all stay together (shazbot! Baylor) and combine with Louisville, WV, Cinncy, UConn, and Pitt . .   The athletic revenue range is $35 Million to $69 million, and the $35 million is with one outlier, toss out the outlier and the range is $45 to $69 million.  In the Big 12 the range is $45 million to $137 million.    The "new" Big East blows away the current MtW schools where only 1, TCU would even be in the $45 to $69 million range

Right now the Big East TV contract pays between $4 to $6 million for its football schools per  year.   But that's double to triple what the MtW pays.   Paul Tagliabue is the Big East's adviser.   You throw in 4 former Big 12 schools and add the KC and St. L media markets, and the added knowledge of the going rates and Fox aggressiveness and that "new" Big East Football school payout has a chance to more than double.    No, it's not SEC, Big 10, Pac 16 money, but it is likely more than what the Big 12 is paying the refugee 5 now per school.   The "new" Big East could likely equal the ACC's new contract at just a touch under $13 million dollars per school per year.
