Geezus . . . really.
Slice out the "new" Big East "corridor" on the map, and then Circle the "new" MWC "corridor" on the map. Then lets talk dollars and cents.
It's no contest . . . realizing all the variables, but lets go to fantasy land for a second and pretend that the Big 12 Refugee 4 all stay together (shazbot! Baylor) and combine with Louisville, WV, Cinncy, UConn, and Pitt . . The athletic revenue range is $35 Million to $69 million, and the $35 million is with one outlier, toss out the outlier and the range is $45 to $69 million. In the Big 12 the range is $45 million to $137 million. The "new" Big East blows away the current MtW schools where only 1, TCU would even be in the $45 to $69 million range
Right now the Big East TV contract pays between $4 to $6 million for its football schools per year. But that's double to triple what the MtW pays. Paul Tagliabue is the Big East's adviser. You throw in 4 former Big 12 schools and add the KC and St. L media markets, and the added knowledge of the going rates and Fox aggressiveness and that "new" Big East Football school payout has a chance to more than double. No, it's not SEC, Big 10, Pac 16 money, but it is likely more than what the Big 12 is paying the refugee 5 now per school. The "new" Big East could likely equal the ACC's new contract at just a touch under $13 million dollars per school per year.
