salivating over the possibility of K-State, ku, mu, baylor, & isu finding 3 others schools to retain the BCS affiliation granted to the "Big 12?" I believe only 8 teams are required to retain the BCS and TV contracts established by the "Big12." Also, does anyone know where all the buyout money goes when the 7 other schools leave the conference? This has all probably been discussed, I'm just to busy to dig for it.

P.S. - I still like my original idea of calling it the Prairie League

Commissioner Don Beebe told The New York Times on Wednesday night that the league could elect to continue with its current membership (minus Colorado and Nebraska) and simply forgo a championship game.

In theory, this would be a huge benefit for both Texas and Oklahoma, the top remaining football schools, in that they would each face one less obstacle to claiming a BCS berth. Coupled with the fact that the Longhorns would still be top dog (as opposed to sharing that billing with USC in a Pac-16) and the fact that the Big 12 would allow UT to form a Longhorn Network, and suddenly saving the Big 12 sounds like a more attractive option.

The conference could still add a TCU, SMU or BYU if it wanted, but it wouldn't have to.

Could be amazing for b-ball.  Hey leftover NYC/east coast kids.....you'll still be stuck in KS, but we'll be on the east coast all the time.    

I still think Big East is the best case as far as BB goes.  Will do the same thing for our team that being in the same league as TX can do for a FB team.

This will definitely kick SEC and Big 10 into the "need more teams" mode.

No way they sit back and let the PAC16 get two auto bids.  No way.

Big 10 will have to keep pace by adding teams. By offering "leftover" former Big 12 north teams, the Big 10 can basically get a discount on the pay out to those new members for several years.
