So, our only hope is tagging along with Lew "I've been through this before. I know what to do." Perkins?  That's not inspiring either.

Yeah, our only real option is to wait to see which loser can't find a date to the dance and has to ask us out.

We def need to make it known that we put out.

Yeah, our sluttiest dress is going to get wore out this week.

I would prefer Krause at the helm right now.  The Currie/Schulz combo does not inspire thoughts of getting crap done.

Really, you want the guy/s that thought that giving Prince an extra 3.2 million after they fire him was in the best interest of the school trying to decide our conference future? :comehere:

Stormy you should go back to the sandbox and work on memorizing Snyders 13 Principles/Commandments/Methods of Highly Effective People.  Also, any info on the weather in Olathe this evening. Thanks!

Look at it this way.  Those two-star 'cruits we get every year will be a lot more competitive in the MWC (may have already been mentioned 30-40 pages ago; if so-  :flush:).

can we put Frank in charge of all this?  A couple stares here and there and we con probably get a majority revenue share of any conference we want.

that was wefald you ignorant rube

And Krause went along with it and signed the damn paperwork. Sure Wefart knew about it and told Krause to do it. If those two were around he would be trying for us to join he Negro league. :opcat: :opcat:

I like the guy who has shown he'll get things done, no matter how shady or underhanded or off the books it is.  That's the guy we need working for us, because that's they guy KU has working for them.

also, IIRC, when Weefer and Weiser were sobbing at the "they'll never love you like we loved you" press conference, Krause was the only one that wasn't crying and was actually talking about moving forward.

^ this.  I want shady under-the-table dealings.

As quickly as the Big 12 has rushed to the brink of collapse, it could take quite some time for it to become formalized. The coach said the league will have to go on for two more years before splitting up.

Looks like the Colorado exit orchestrated by the Texas crew to circumvent the Baylor political "problem" is going down just like it was predicted.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's actually pretty simple. Colorado is discussing how to properly avoid paying the massive exit fee imposed by the Big 12.

First of all, don't be fooled. Inviting Colorado now (it's not 'official' yet, FYI) is not a unilateral decision by the Pac-10. UT and A&M are behind this, but they are very skillfully covering their fingerprints.

The big Texas schools have no interest in Baylor whatsoever. BU flushes millions of dollars in BCS money down the toilet every year and brings nothing to the table. It ceased being a serious football team many years ago. The big boys would much rather have Colorado for market reasons, and because the Buffalos actually might be competitive again some day.

Larry Scott is on the verge of tendering this preemptive offer with the full blessing and encouragement of UT and A&M for one reason: It neutralizes the Texas politicians' ability to complicate things.

Nebraska is about to trigger the Big 12 collapse, so the Texas schools have to do something. But, the Texas suits have no ammunition to force Baylor into the mix if the Pac-10 is already the Pac-11. UT and A&M can shrug and say, "Sorry, we tried." The Pac-10 can shrug and say, "We couldn't just sit around, we had to do something." And Baylor gets the shaft.

But back to the secret meeting, Colorado's tentative (again, it's not a done deal) plan is to accept a preemptive invitation, and then take some initial legal measure to contest the B12's buyout clause. The only reason for doing that is to tie it up in court just long enough for the conference to dissolve, leaving no legal entity left to collect the check. This meeting will be to discuss the specific legal strategy, dot the i's and cross the t's, as well as develop a contingency in case something goes seriously wrong and the Big 12 doesn't actually implode as planned.

The MWC is patiently waiting to pick up the pieces. But, buyer beware, they may not get them. If the Kansas schools, Missouri, and Baylor can't be lured by the MWC itself, BYU, TCU, and Utah are prepared to break off and help form a new conference with the hope of a BCS autobid.

I also heard something else interesting today that I'll throw in as food for thought... don't be surprised if five or so years from now BYU and Utah are in the same conference as....

Arizona and Arizona State.

Not everyone down in the desert likes the way things are going right now.
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

it's more about when this might happen than it actually happening right now.  if certain things happen (i.e. pac-16 with big 10 expanding more than just NU, which might trigger the SEC to devour parts of the ACC and the ACC to get in on some BE teams) then I'd rather have Lew than Currie.  I mean, who the f*ck was Currie rubbing elbows with as the fracking assistant AD at Tenn?  And how long has Currie been in a position of big time athletics?  Sure, Krause has about as much experience as Currie, but Krause as shown some moral flexibility, which I think is key.  This is all moot, of course, but I'm just saying I'd like it if it appeared that Currie was a dirty, ruthless motherf*cker who will do anything for his university/athletic department.  Maybe this entire process will show that, but I doubt it.

Only positive for me is that if this happens Sec. 17 gets vindicated on Currie.  Will be fun to blame him.

Not everyone down in the desert likes the way things are going right now.

This gets back to the South Carolina and Arkansas conundrum.   Fan bases are only appeased by the thought of more money and great exposure for so long.   They look down the road and see Florida and/or USC hoisting up those conference championship trophies and crystal footballs and they want one.   Let's take Arkansas, their fans and boosters didn't pay for an $80 million stadium upgrade just so they can  have a nicer place to go watch their Hogs go 7-5 every year and collect a nice SEC pay check.    Les Miles isn't on the hotseat because LSU fans are just fine with collecting a nice SEC paycheck every year.   They want championships.

Well look at Arizona and Arizona State . . . again I've always perceived them as being treated as the red headed step children of the Pac 10.   I just don't see how they can be the least bit happy with the prospect of THEM getting paired with the Big 12 South Schools while the Cal/Pac Northwest brings in chowder puff girl CU.   What AD and football staff wants to have their road, that's hard enough with USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, and a re-surging Washington as it is . . . suddenly having to deal with OU and Texas??   I ask . . . how could they be happy with that in Tempe and Tuscon??

Can we quit talking about power conference schools voluntarily leaving their current amazing conferences to join the sinking ship that is the Big 12?  It makes me sad.

As far as Arizona and Arizona State goes that's angled more towards BYU, Utah and TCU breaking away from the MWC to form a new conference.

So, Colorado is using the ploy of putting a check in the casket of the person he owes money to as a means of paying the buyout?
