so, like, anyone think this was, in part, leaked by UT officials to scare the sh*t out of the conference? i'd doubt that the pac-10 let's them in if UT's ultimate (and publicly stated) goal is to have their own network, but if they scared the sh*t out of every big 12 member by threatening to leave, everyone would allow them or not block their ability to establish their own network.

It's certainly effective with those not on the list to be included in the PAC-10 deal. It would also be quite a slap in the face to Mizzou, and possibly Nebraska. However, because OU is involved, it makes me think that there is some truth in it. Though, OU would be welcomed to the SEC nearly as quickly as aTm (though aTm has a better TV footprint).

So I was listening to 810, wanting to hear Beebe talk. Apparently the meeting got out over an hour late and Beebe delayed his conference until tomorrow.

yeah, but why OSU and Tech? More shares of the pie to schools that don't bring anything to the table. Two 7 team divisions would work. Really, all I'm doing is trying to find a glimmer of hope to hang on to while I schedule out my trips to fracking fort collins in january or february for some mountain west basketball games.

edit: I get that osu and tech would just be "fillers" to round out the scheduling because two 7 team division would put a west coast team in the "east" division which prolly doesn't work.

So, over a two+ month time period there hasn't been a single credible media source linking K-State as a possibilty to join a newly formed or realligned BCS conference should the Big XII dissolve, right? Like not a single one. Just curious. Might have missed it.

You'd think like a K-State magazine for K-Staters or like D Scott would throw us a bone on Twitter or make something up or something. I'm getting worried.

I get Steve Dave's point, that we would have a immediate comparative advantage against most teams in the MWC, for example.

However, I believe that it would be very, very short lived. We will regress to the rest of the pack. Our football recruiting will be severely impacted....if Old Balls were 10-15 years younger, I'd be saying "bring it on," because he's EXACTLY the type of coach you need in conference like the ones where we will end up. The best we can hope for is to end up like a Boise State or Utah, and the most likely scenario is that we'll end up like a Colorado State or Nevada.

Take a guess at what our athletic department budget will shrink to with the crap TV deals we will be a part of.

Guess what's going to happen to our hapless Ahearn fund.

I, for one, am not going to pay $500 a year for a rough ridin' parking spot (let alone the $1000 parking spots) to watch claw our way to a top-half finish in the MWC.

Oh, and Catzacker doesn't rough ridin' need to worry about game times....they won't be on TV...you'll be able to turn on the 580 broadcast (our "sweet" radio deal will vanish and we'll be back to WIBW and the others we lost) and listen to those late games as you fall asleep.

In four years we'll be giving away upper deck football tickets with the purchase of a Whopper at participating Geary/Pott/Riley county Burger Kings.
