So, I don't understand why those thinking that KU leaving would doom KSU to irelevance.
First off, KU ain't leaving, so this is all for nothing...BUT for the sake of adding a few hundred more pages to this monstrosity, lets say KU does go to the big 10.
KSU would then be the Big XII's sole anchor into three 'major' TV markets...KC (31) , Wichita (69) & Topeka (138). Now I know it seems silly to count Topeka and even Wichita as "major" markets, but when you add the three markets together, they would be the 16th largest market in # of TV Homes (1,564,840 based on '08 data) right ahead of Miami/Ft. lauderdale & right behind Minneapolis/St. Paul.
There is no way the Big XII would jeopardize losing the KC market, let alone the three markets combined so it would only strengthen KSU's position, but again, this is all pointless becaues KU isn't going anywhere.
