I like it because we play 4 Texas teams, including UT, every season. This should help greatly when we get a new coach and he actually has to recruit players that other FBS schools want.

Yes, they can do that at those schools, which gives them a huge advantage over us if we go back to a north/south alignment. The round robin format levels the playing field.

We seem to be winning just fine while playing the best teams in the conference. It is very possible to lose a game in the round robin Big 12 and make a 4 team playoff. If the team isn't good enough to make the playoff, then it doesn't really matter anyway. We are probably talking about the difference between a 7-8 win team and an 8-9 win team.

It's possible but wouldn't happen this year. The Big 12 is pretty much guaranteed to NEVER have more than one team with a round-robin.

Why not just get rid of the co-champs label when it's a "tie" between two teams that played each other? I understand if it's a 3 way tie ala 2008 between Tech/Texas/OU where they all beat each other, but seems really stupid for 2 teams.

Two years of round robin and we would have gotten one total team in.

It's possible but wouldn't happen this year. The Big 12 is pretty much guaranteed to NEVER have more than one team with a round-robin.

I think we probably would make the playoffs this year, based upon the future committee putting a heavy weight on strength of schedule and polls not being a factor in selecting the playoff teams. It's hard to say until we actually see the new system in action, though.
