Well they'd have to rotate at least 2 opponents......  And Texas gets 2 games in a row (TCU, KSU) with more than a week to prepare.  Our bye week is nice right now, but in a way you get 2 bye weeks and a national stand alone game.  And I think it would be fun.

When Deloss is gone UT is going to realize they are towing around a bag full of crap named the big-12. Barnes just lost to a DII school tonight and Mack Brown has been under-performing since VY left. I'm guessing it won't be long until UT donors get restless with their AD.

Once again MiR misses the forest for the trees.  This yet another example of UT dictating to the conference instead of the conference dictating to members.  Next MiR will tell us things like moving the conference HQ to Dallas from its perennial home was just a matter of logistics or being close to Love Field so they could take advantage of SW airlines pricing.   

And expansion may not make financial sense to the current membership, but it sure as hell ensures the future health of the conference and the long term revenue of all members.  Texas doesn't want to expand because they are a) currently making good money b) don't want another center of gravity that could rival them ie: FSU or ND c) they realize they have options and could step out on us at any point.  We as a conference are only a fraction more secure than we were months ago and that IS NOT due to anything we have done, but rather the chaos and instability in the ACC and Big East.  To think otherwise is foolish at best.

I remember being in a conference with OU and Nebraska called the big-8 that worked pretty damn well.

I'm sure Mizzou, Nub, and Colorado would still be in the Big 8 if Texas wouldn't have effed it all up. They'd be making a 1/3 off what they are making now, but they didn't leave because of money, they left because UT is an bad person. It's UT's fault they all got invited to other conferences.

I agree that they are being morons, but a bye week during the Thanksgiving holiday is only an advantage if the conference has no championship game or if you are playing in it. If we go back to 12 teams, unless we are playing in the championship game, we are only giving ourselves an extra week before the bowl game, which, if anything, is a disadvantage.

Odds of how the Texas thing will work out:

Year 1 - @TCU, Baylor at home
Year 2 - @Baylor, TCU at home
Year 3 - @TCU, Baylor at home
Year 4 - @ Baylor, TCU at home

People do realize that anytime the ND/USC game is played in LA, it's Thanksgiving, but when it's at ND, the game is played in October.

But I'm sure this gives USC a tremendous advantage.
