The SEC is at 14 now. What's VT going to do? UNC? The SEC will take them and go to 16 if the ACC implodes imo. Unless the big 10 goes to 14 I guess. Those two have a seat at a table if they want one I think.

UNC can stay where they are.  $17 million at a basketball school is a lot of money.

Picture the ACC without VT, FSU, and Clemson, and with UConn, Rutgers, and Louisville.

They're even MORE ACC'er than before.  It's like with 25% more ACCness.

It will be a fantastic basketball conference, full of strong, east coast academic schools, that will play better than Mountain West-level football.

Just picture the ACC with that schools swap and tell me like any of the remaining schools really seem like they don't belong there for one reason or another.

Is there a point where having a large amount of good teams and the payouts from the bowls/playoff games they get into counteract the initial loss to each school? I know most say that adding more schools decreases profit for schools, but at some point does having schools that are good that initially decrease your income help you when trying to make it into a playoff or bigger bowl?

If you are serious about being a good program and intend on making it to the playoffs or upper tier bowls, can't you bank on beating the schools that have good teams and using them as a strength of schedule springboard upward?

Worrying about an initial loss of a mil or two by adding them seems like a worry for a lesser program?

Let me help you with how this "superconference" thing will play out.  It's about MARKETS....and the  the Big UT, well WVU, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Kansas fans keep talking about being poached from the ACC,  FSU and Clemson, doesn't add any market value to the Big UT and more importantly their TV partners.   Both FSU and Clemson are in regions that are already shared by other players - Florida and South Carolina - with FSU way down the ladder from Florida, so why would the TV partners pay a premium for that?   But of the three big markets/players that can bring new markets,  two reside in the Big UT - Texas and OU.    And what the minions from the Big UT - knows or should realize, is that they are surrounded on all four sides by conferences who could present a value prop to the TV executives if each or in Texas case one of those schools are added.  The Big UT couldn't do that if they poached schools from the ACC(the SEC, big 10, and PAC 12 are absolutely off limits), unless those two schools are Pitt and Maryland...any other schools just wouldn't add value to the TV partners.  So if there's going to be a superconference setup - the Big UT would be the most viable option to be picked.   

Big 12 football has improved in their demented minds by losing schools like Nebraska and Colorado with national titles. Losing aTm, one of the Top 3 fanbases in the conference. Losing Mizzou and their state of TV sets.

Oh but wait, they added the 3 million people of WV and they added TCU which brings them a neighborhood in Forth Worth Texas. TCU also brings them drug dealers too, so it's a great deal for the big 12.

Big 12 basketball also somehow got better by losing Top 10 Mizzou to the SEC. Kansas can now replace the Mizzou game with those anticipated games vs wvu and TCU.

I predict in 2-3 years OU and OKstate will eventually grow tired of Texas' antics and control. They will also get tired of playing wvu, BYU and Louisville (yes those are your FSU and Clemson replacements).....so they will bolt for the SEC.

The Pac 12 will then make a move for BYU, Texas, Kansas and Texas Tech. Texas might stay put so some other Texas school will slide into the 4th spot.

Texas can just gather up Houston, SMU, etc to further build their own Texas conference with big 12 leftovers because they are making $155 million a year in sports revenue by themselves. wvu might find themsevles back in the big least or CUSA at that point.

Texas is making so much more money than OU that eventually Texas will finish them off with facilities to lure recruits. OKstate is along for the ride with OU. OU and OKstate made a huge mistake hanging out with Texas when they can make more money in the SEC and sell that angle to recruits in TX like aTm.

Nobody in the same conference as Texas is ever going to out-recruit them in Texas. Now, using the SEC is a better conference angle can work, just see what happens to aTm. OU and OKstate are watching aTm in the SEC along with Mizzou.

If things fall into line, the ACC will be the strongest conference in the nation. Meanwhile we have idiots at Clempson and FSU too big for their own britches trying to f it all up.

Could easily see ND going to the ACC.  When the scraps of the ACC merge with the scraps of the Big East to reform the east coast power basketball conference.  That conference could well be a better parking spot for everything but football then the BE ever was.  Doubt ND gives up indie status unless/until the big 10/SEC/Big 12 all go to 16 and completely cannibalize ACC.  Really, even then it's a toss up imo.  I have almost convinced myself that they love indie more then they would love another 10-15 mil annually in A.D. revenue.

Ya, FSU staying where they are is what I am most worried about.

The confusing part for me is all this talk about Clemson being a done deal, and what that really means.  We are either just playing Clemson as a backup to Notre Dame, or there is truly a 4th team out there that we take when Notre Dame is ready to join.

Who is that?  The Georgia Tech stuff does not make sense to me at all.  Miami's BOT's actually sound serious about staying in the ACC.  Va Tech seems like a good fit, but I had assumed that the SEC would grab them before Notre Dame made up their minds. 

Truly, I'd love for it to be UNC.

No, I think most of their posters really are that clueless and/or delusional.  All sorts of gems to choose from in multiple threads.

Including FSU, there aren't any great additions for the B12 outside of BYU these days (VT, Clemson, GT, Miami don't bring huge numbers for the B12 to offset costs of carving up the pie).
Boise is a good team, but not a big tv or population numer.  Honestly, B12 needs either Colorado or Mizzou and Nebraska back. The only good school outstanding is ND for B12.  And they ain't budging.

I think there is COLUSION going on between the 2 hick conferences. The SEC fears the ACC will get ND +1 in 1-3 years, so they are trying to help the big 12 steal Clempson and FSU with the hope more ACC teams scatter giving the SEC 2 from the ACC.

I think the ACC is going to stick together and grow stronger from this.  CBS will rue the day they tried to screw over the ACC.

What I am certain of is that Texas is livid about the ACC adding Pitt. Texas was talking to the ACC about a soft landing if the Big 12 were to explode, but in true Texas fashion it was being duplicitous. Texas had decided to keep its LHN and thus keep the Big 12 to maximize the LHN's value. Texas was telling the ACC one thing while trying to land Pitt.

Finally, everyone one says:  "It is all about football".    I would say, it is mainly about football.   People in the Northeast, Midwest, Southwest and West Coast don't give a crap about watching Alabama play LSU for the Championship.

Basketball is important, especially to TV viewers in the winter and the ACC is probably now and definitely could be the Premier Basketball League by far.   The ACC is the premier league for the fastest growing sport, LaCrosse and one of the Top 2 Leagues for both Soccer and Baseball.

It does seems self-evident that the SEC & Big 12 have already divided up the ACC between themselves.  And the Big 10 & Pac 12 are reportedly going to try to force the forthcoming 4-team playoff to be a conference champions only affair which would effectively force ND's hand.  Seems like it's mostly over but for the specifics of who lands in the 4 super conferences and who waits too long and it shut out.
