Yeah, if adding a KY team and a WV team isn't MO team bait I don't know what is.

11 teams?  no round robin combo'd with no championship game...what great idea is next?  The big 12 allowing beer sales at all games except it has to be O'Doul's.

A guy on our site that's plugged in to the conference says that if we accept WVU and Louisville, and grant ten years of rights, MU stays.

That may be why you hear eleven for now.

Also, the same guy (plus one more who heard the same story) says that MU is extremely divided.  Governor is the one that really wants SEC and is pushing the BoC to do it.  Deaton and Head Curator don't want it.  Apparently, those closed door sessions have devolved into shouting matches.  Apparently, if we go get Louisville and WVU, and we stick to the 6 year grant of rights, MU situation could get really ugly internally.

I don't know what Missouri will ultimately do, but I do know that their coaches do not want SEC. Big 3 especially do not want (FB, MBB, BSB). Have also heard that the AthDept as a whole is opposed. This is all fan and politician driven, if in fact they go.

Really?  Pinkle has been highly critical of the Big 12, he called the conference a joke on a St. Louis radio station.  BITB said his off the record quotes are even more negative.

Is it really fan driven?  I mean really?  And I'm sorry, but there is way too much that has happened to say that this is all being driven by the Governor and fans.  The AD at some point became aware that the BOC/GOV/University Pres./boosters whatever wanted some SEC.  Now to protect himself from the incredible backlash coming from staying (whether through rejection or not) or leaving (and pissing off a sizable portion of the fanbase) he wants some people to throw under the bus.

You are a solid source and I get that Pinkel and Haith don't want their crap pushed in, but this is incredibly self-serving by the Ath. Dept.

I think GP is just lashing out because he's right back to mediocrity again.

They had a nice little run, but the guy has hit his glass ceiling at mu.  They can recruit, but they can't make the next step.

It may be more accurate to say booster driven if you believe some of the reports out there.

Yeah, but he never compared it to going to the SEC. I want no part of it if I'm GP.

BITB was saying this week that Deaton and director of boc both were very against the move, but ultimately relented to Nixon.

If MU turns down SEC ()  Doesn't that mean the SEC would be almost forced to take WVU and leave us at 10?

Yeah, Pinkle has been pretty down on the BigXII.  But, I can't really understand why he would want SEC.  It's taken him more than a decade to become relevant in the BigXII.

A move to the SEC means starting over from scratch.  At his age, I can't imagine this is desirable.  They're going to have losing seasons for 3-4 straight years.  Their recruiting will be turned upside down.

I dunno.  Seems kind of crazy for Pinkle to advocate leaving.  Then again, he's never been billed as the smartest guy in the room.

Yes.  That's why we need to line up WVU immediately.  Lock em down.

Scotchy may actually kill himself if they stay.

He and his kid are about as arrogant as it gets with their implied guarantees about the move.

West Virginia has been invited to join the Big 12 Conference, college football industry sources told CBSSports.com Friday.

The Mountaineers will accept the invitation, sources said. The Big 12 is expected to officially announce the invitation later today.

The Big 12?s board of directors voted Friday morning and chose West Virginia over Louisville. They will stay at 10 schools, a source said.

On Tuesday, West Virginia had received a verbal offer to join the Big 12, but then the league put the Mountaineers on hold because the league’s board of directors wanted to perform “due diligence.”

The league was split between adding West Virginia or Louisville to replace Missouri, which is expected to leave the league for the SEC.

Missouri still hasn’t officially left the Big 12. The Tigers are still negotiating an exit fee to leave the league. The SEC’s Digital Network, an official website of the SEC, accidentally posted a story Thursday night that Missouri would join the SEC on July 1, 2012.

If Missouri joins the SEC next season, West Virginia may have to wait until 2014 to leave the Big East for the Big 12.

The Big East has a 27-month notice before teams may leave the league. West Virginia is the latest team to announce its leaving the Big East Conference. Pittsburgh and Syracuse are headed to the ACC and TCU will join the Big 12 next season.

So, if the current feeling is 10 is enough, inviting WVU basically means MU is def gone.

could still have the "we will invite Louisville if you decide to stay" carrot out there.  LOL at the SEC if that happens.

If the big concern is the diminished pay check in going to more than 10 teams, seems Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) to wager that on MU's inability to work out a biz deal and make a rough ridin' decision.

Wagering millions on MU's whim.

there also may be a trend of conferences saying, "we're happy where we're at," while at the same time adding teams.
