Good news coming out of meeting now. As of 6:13 pm WVU is in the Big 12 and Loserville is out. The super-official invite is forthcoming.

Goodness, "Loserville"?  These West Virginia fans seem very mean spirited and hateful!

With WVU in, does that mean UT gave in on the 10 year grant of rights?  Or did OU cave?

I keep thinking ul+12 will have to be coming eventually.

I'm guessing Big XII is holding out for a team they really want.

They should just add both of these m'fers.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

If round robin was so grest others would be using it.    The in thing is a CCG to determine the conf. champ.

would take 10 teams w/ 10 year grant of rights.  otherwise give Loserville + (BYU/ND or Cinci or Memphis or ?) to get to 12

Round robin is pretty damn BA but the CCG brings in a shitload of money.  I like 10 but if everyone else is going to 12+ we probably better go to 12 as well.

11 teams?  no round robin combo'd with no championship game...what great idea is next?  The big 12 allowing beer sales at all games except it has to be O'Doul's.

10 is better than 12.  so are 9 and 8.

A guy on our site that's plugged in to the conference says that if we accept WVU and Louisville, and grant ten years of rights, MU stays.

That may be why you hear eleven for now.

Also, the same guy (plus one more who heard the same story) says that MU is extremely divided.  Governor is the one that really wants SEC and is pushing the BoC to do it.  Deaton and Head Curator don't want it.  Apparently, those closed door sessions have devolved into shouting matches.  Apparently, if we go get Louisville and WVU, and we stick to the 6 year grant of rights, MU situation could get really ugly internally.

If the big east is completely destroyed (loses AQ status), there will be a massive shakeup out there and it will involve the
current ACC. And that's short term. Long term these schools are going to want to get back to the geographical regions in which they belong anyway.

Pitt and Syracuse are in the ACC now, they're not leaving, at least not for a very long time. If we take Louisville and WVU and possibly Cincy, that leaves just Rutgers, UConn, and S. Florida as fb schools in the Big East. The most likely scenario then, IMO is Rutgers and UConn eventually end up in the ACC putting them at 16 (or ND/UConn if ND's hand is forced) and S. Florida possibly ends up with us (16 with S. Florida, C. Florida, BYU, and ND/Rutgers :dunno:). In that scenario where is this viable eastern conference going to come from? None of those teams would be leaving the ACC and I don't see anyone leaving the B10 or SEC so it would have to be formed with teams not currently AQ which isn't going to be strong enough to pull those teams out of the BXII unless it brings along some current BXII teams as well.

I definitely not an expert on the whole conf army thing, but I just don't see a scenario where a new vialble east coast conference appears anytime in the next 20-30 years if the BE is imploded.

I honestly don't think USF or UCF are in the conversation at all.  Whether or not they should be is up for debate, but there hasn't been one solid lead anywhere that they were under consideration at all.

Not saying they're in the conversation right now, just saying that if the Big East ends up imploding USF is one of the current AQ teams who would be looking for a home. The SEC is probably only an option if it comes back to a "everyone needs to get to 16" deal again and they can't pry anyone else away. The ACC is going to take UConn and Rutgers before USF if they decide to go 16 so I think their next plan would be to try and convince the BXII that they should go to 16 and expand their footprint into Florida. If at that time we have Louisville and WVU along with either Cincy or  :crossfingers:ND then I think their would be some interest in doing so and at that point UCF becomes a natural to look at as both a travel partner and regional rival. Again this is all speculation on the basis that the Big East implodes/loses AQ. I have no sources, links, etc. just my theory on how it would all go down.

Another potential outcome is the SEC or Pac12 decide to be proactive and go to 16 and set off a whole new round of conf army that breaks up the BXII, but either way goes back to the orginal point that we're not going to lose WVU to a new east coast conference barring a situation like the old WAC where a group of teams decides 16 is too much and forms a new smaller conference out of say, the ACC, at which point we could afford to lose WVU because the smaller conferences would be back in style.

That would actually be good and kind of connects L'Vile and WVUto the rest of the confy and aids in non-rev travel time.

Looks kind of official, probably a spoof, but would be hilarious if the SEC had it ready proving they were "meddling".

Without the texas and ok schools the pac 12 is effectively blocked from expanding. They have no viable expansion targets...
