you would have to set it up so they still play every year though.  don't think it would work.  OU/NU tried to set that up and gave up.

I'm guessing that we'll pretty much have at least two invitations out to Louisville and WVU as soon as Mizzou leaves.  Then we'll be picky about number twelve because, with the Big East destroyed, Dodds, Castiglione, and Neinas are at least going to have a sit down with Swarbick.

If WVU and whoever else we would add when ND says no don't add $36MM to the annual revenue, WVU won't get an invite just to pressure ND.

The Big East is dead.  Notre Dame needs to play their sports somewhere.  Though skeptical at first, I'm beginning to think that Notre Dame's other sports is a great idea for this conference.

I want WVU and Louisville.

You can throw all the so called expert studies, and all the "Kentucky owns the state" crap out.   Louisville will fill a 55,000 seat stadium for a decent football team, they will fill a 22,000 seat basketball arena, they have a $72 million dollar athletic budget.   Public universities don't get to that level because they have a mega loyal fanbase of 60,000 who are also all rich . . . they have a significant following, and their basketball program while maybe not a mega elite is still a national level program.   In addition, being in Louisville puts the Big 12 right at the crossroads of Big 10/SEC country.  

West Virginia outside of a few lame games fills a 62,000 seat stadium, they have a good basketball program with a well known coach, they do have a strong presence in their part of the country.  No, I am not saying they're Penn State, but they have high visibility and are not that far away from what I call the Megalopolis Corridor of the East Coast.

A 4 team play off would be awesome, but i doubt it would happen.

My take on this system would be to play the other 2 teams in your pod (duh) and play 2 more pods for a total of 8 conference games.  Rotate the pods, so in one year you play Pods 2 and 3, then the next year play Pods 3 and 4, etc.

I don't see a need to overcomplicate things though when two 6 team divisions are fine.
