ND and UT have been talking about this for awhile now. Someone open record acted UT and found out in 2009 they had been floating a league to ND of UT, OSU/TT, OU, Arkansas, Mizzou, ND, Pitt, and UNC. I'm not saying it will happen. I'm just saying it's been talked about in the past. UT's tried crazier stuff in the past, like that alliance they tried to form with the ACC. UT will perpetually be looking for a better situation, give them 5-6 years I'm guessing they will be able to find one. 5-6 years after that they'll try to find something better than that. UT views themselves as an independent already, right now they just view the best situation for themselves is to be in the Big12. I'm just advocating forming alliances with as many schools as we can for long term stability. I really, really wish that alliance included a Tier2 TV network making the binds stronger.

And in 6 years, if the LHN doesn't do well, they may very well decide that it doesn't make sense to go independent. But it sure makes a lot of sense for them to agree to stay in the conference for two years after the next TV deal is set so they can make a decision then. You should understand why they won't agree to 10 years.

To be a little bit positive: If the LHN doesn't live up to expectations and Notre Dame continues to fail, there is a chance that we could end up with both of those football teams in our conference. Would be glorious. But it's a gamble. If things stay as they are, they're probably gone. But if TV continues to move to the internet I give the gamble a decent chance of success. message boarding pro tip-> this is fantastic long term covering your ass for the future while still being able to spew crazy theories. personally, with a 6 year timeframe, I would just stick to my crazy guns and not cover my ass. It's not like this place will be around in 6 years anyway.

There IS a succession plan. Just because you have "issues" with it, doesn't mean that it won't happen. While BSAC isn't going to live forever, that doesn't mean we close up shop.

I hope you are just kidding. Lots of posters seem to want MU to go now just because they are being pricks. I want them to stay not only for the rivalries and history, but also because the new TV contracts coming up will be a lot bigger with MU than without, thus more dollars for the league and us. Louisville does not add nearly as much as the value lost from MU. I want Louisville in our conference regardless just to add more stability, but I sure as hell want MU to stay here despite them being giant pricks. All the more excitement to beat them and be happy when they lose to other teams in conference.

I will probably move away from the KC area in 5 years or so, but until then I am consumed by the notion of preserving the Big 12 tourney here.

After I move, I will not care. DFW would be better, because it has direct flights to everywhere, and scalper tix will be easily acquired.

Again, until I move, we must keep Mizzou in the conference.
