I want the Big 12 to expand, and I was only pointing out the possible strategic implications of TCU.

I view TCU expansion as almost being mutually exclusive to expansion to Louisville/WVU/BYU etc. etc.

If it's just TCU, yeah, I'll be disappointed.  

Again, TCU was about chess pieces and trying to put a brake on the SEC message that's coming to Texas recruits harder than ever.  It's another group of Big 12 coaches out there that have the Big 12 message that goes hand in hand with their school message.

I am not completely sold on Texas independence either, they're a huge brand, but it's Notre Dame yet . . . it's not radio affiliates in every major media market, it's not a huge following (still) in Chicago and NYC.

sure, but they need one.  which other conference are they going to join?  You see Texas basketball/baseball playing in the MWC?  The SEC/PAC/Big10 aren't letting them in without football.  

That's why they are bringing ND to the Big XII.  They want to keep us together, but they don't need us for football.

Of course we will.  NU is in the Big 10, A&M is in the SEC, CU is in the PAC12.  MU is probably gone.  What the hell else are we gonna do?

Members of conferences in this day and age make more money than those with their own network.

I don't know what else to say other than the only reason ND is independent is because they have a hell bent desire, regardless of common sense, to do so.

Currie - we want to grow the Big12 to include as many schools as makes the Big12 most stable.  If that's 1 school or 3 schools, K-State supports whatever is best.

For UT and ND to try and do their own thing with OSU, TT, and BYU, and leave the KU, KSU, ISU, Baylor, and TCU out, yes that's convenient.  I have  no idea what UT, ND, and OU would do, but you can guarantee they'll try and figure something out.  UT will perpetually be looking out for UT.  The rest of the conference needs to look out for themselves and bring WVU, Louisville, and someone else into the mix to cover their asses.
