I know we're all focused on the impending doom of the dissolving BE, and we've mostly come to accepting that OU is most likely gone...but here's an email from an OU connect that is privy to this sort of info.

...when the President of UT, Deloss and their VP's came to see Boren, they pretty much got the cold shoulder.  I
saw a friend of mine this weekend who is a [really important dude] at Devon Energy, you know,the company who is building the new 70 story sky scraper going up in Downtown OKC.  Devon is a huge benefactor of OU. We were all talking about it, and name redacted said "we are gone, trust me."  Boren told the president of UT, that "we should have settled this last summer and he is not going to go through this each and every year. We will find stability."  He would like to go to a conference with UT, but from what name said, he[Boren] was very blunt about going without them and even dropping the RRR if we had to. The UT people were shocked by the reception, and OU is not going to budge.

NU was not the only dissenting vote in the big 12.  That's a myth.  It always voted for unequal revenue sharing.  The only time it dissented with UT was for (a) letting stupid people into universities and (b) moving the offices to Dallas.  Both votes, by the way, they weren't the only dissenting voice, there were others.  Nebraska (and OU, A&M) made it about who had the biggest dick and then ran off when UT whipped theirs out to show who really had the biggest dick.  

Uh, NO. At the initial meetings for the formation of the Big 12 NU was the only one dissenting vote. Osborne's quote was that the Big 12 would one day become Texascentric.

When the Big 12 formed in 1996, Texas engineered the rules in its favor (after all, Texas didn’t need partial qualifiers when it had more blue-chip talent within 100 miles of its campus than the entire Big 12 north combined). The rest of the league went along, because they wanted to knock Nebraska off its pedestal.


Now, these schools are left to deal with the mess they helped create. Texas, now with ESPN in its back pocket, continues to splatter longhorn dung on its conference mates in its quest for more money.

I don't think we're going to 16 yet, because I think college presidents and bowls want to still try to avoid the playoff scenario. Of course, the media is all for 16 because they've got a B.O.B. for a playoff system.

Definitely looks like 14, though, with the ACC move and OU/OSU's impending departure for PAC 12.

So the question is whether Texas sticks around and we add Louisville, Cincy, BYU, etc., or whether they go indy. Edit:  or Big 10, per Pete.
