It's only relative to what else is available.   Each of the service academies bring interest on TV that is greater than your average middle-of-no-where Mountain West or CUSA team.  Houston is in a great market, but Houston TVs are ours as long as we have Texas.

Plus, and don't think they other schools don't know this and are counting on it, Air Force brings the greatest combination of TV sets plus easy wins.  No other school can simultaneously deliver ratings yet suck.  Not huge ratings, but guaranteed to be steady.

This is going to become even more fun, because who goes with them.  Its a coin toss between Mizzou, Va Tech, Maryland, or WVU.

Mizzou to the SEC  = KSU in the Mountain West or C-USA.

Merely postpones the inevitable.  If things are going 16, the Big East is dead.  Actually, the Big East is dead if the Big 10 goes to 14 along with the SEC....cause either they'll get plucked by the Big 10 or SEC, or a reeling ACC.  But, I guess a year or two in the soon-to-be dead Big East is better than spending that time in the MWC.

16 team conferences are far from a given. Big Ten especially will resist big time. SEC may be reluctant to expand in existing states, which means they poach acc. Your view is too simplistic.

If AF gets in a BCS conference, they will have a large following. Southern Colorado(1-2 million), some of Denver would watch. Like said before, the Academy has a fairly small enrollment, but the service has a half million service members at any time.

In addition to that, they're getting damn good in football. Basketball has sucked since Bzdelic left for CU, though.

Knew what you meant but immediately discounted it. If college athletics mattered to service members, Army and Navy would be relevant more than one time a year. Air Force is even smaller and more selective (not just the Academy). MWC is lucky to have them but that's MWC. AFA has a lot more important things to worry about than being mediocre at football.
