Well, it seems unlikely to me that the SEC won't find a 14th, and we KNOW aTm wants to join the SEC. So, if for some very unlikely reason the SEC asks aTm to wait for a 14th, I would be very surprised if we didn't aggressively try to get to 12 very soon....and treat the aTm departure as a forgone conclusion.

It seems like the proper conservative approach. They could roll the dice and try to milk a year or two at the higher revenue rate for each school, but they also need to start making their case for the upcoming Tier 1 negotiations...not to mention just keeping some "dry chowder" in form of extra teams for the eventual departure of aTm.

If it were me, I'd be grabbing two teams immediately, and start playing a game of just-the-tip with a third. I'd be going for eyeballs...BYU first, followed by Air Force. No existing BCS team is going to be interested (e.g. Louisville), until we prove we can deal with departures and prove ourselves stable again.

there is no desire to add if a&m stays. I think we end up with air force when a&m leaves. Trading a fake military school for a real military school. Hopefully none of the riley rats stab the visiting air force cadets. Hell, they might even say no. No current bcs team will join and elite independents would tell us to go f#ck ourselves.

The only way that I believe that aTm will stay is because the SEC tells them to wait until they can get the 14th lined up....which is to say that it's still going to happen eventually.

I agree that we could probably put a non-BCS school "on notice" that we'll ask them as soon as aTm bolts, and I also agree that BYU would say "go eff yourselves." However, if this league lasts long enough for the Tier 1 rights to be redone, then we'd be desirable for BYU, IMO.

Air Force would be the smart first grab to make. If we get them then maybe BYU will be willing to join and if we get BYU then certainly that would be enough to convince Louisville to leave the Big East.

Academics. Dedicated global fan base and decent athletics. Plus they give us a market back into Colorado and better recruiting access to Colorado.
