The Big 12 now has an opportunity to bring in some nice geographical fits, and have its own coast-to-coast power conference.
I'd say "have you seen how we've dealt with conference realignment before?" but now we have a mob boss as our executive officer, so maybe it will be different this time. But who knows.
The dynamics have changed if USC/UCLA to BiG comes to fruition. Then the leftovers of the PAC are homeless city America. I don't see the SEC going after any West Coast schools because they still have potential low hanging fruit in the Southeast, the most prolific college sports watching region in these United States. While the negotiations would be tough with the ACC you have to think Clemson and Florida State are on the big board for the SEC. That gives Sankey a massive college TV viewership demographic in the fastest growing region in these United States. USCe and Florida won't be able to fight it off, because the $$ will be huge. The SEC going West only waters down Fortress SEC IMO.
Edit: The SEC would be home to the largest collection of long standing rivalry's in college athletics if Clemson and FSU were to come aboard. No other conference would have that kind of rivalry inventory. Going West destroys that dynamic.
