Yes, great fit with the PAC. Makes a lot of sense here guys.
Culturally and geographically and academically it seems like a no brainer

the only surprising thing to me is that this incredible pairing hasn't been consummated already

PAC was probably like, well, the big 10 will obviously take ISU and KU, WVU is rediculously far away.  We don't want to deal with Texas politics getting in the way.  Which state schools are left?: OSU & KSU

The Pak probably just wants the two programs that will deliver the most viewers. They also have a huge void in ag research that we can fill.

"PAC is on record as saying they will announce their expansion intentions this week so we should be able to start debating which AAC teams are the best fit sooner rather than later."

This

I want a PAC invite to be true, but don't see it happening.  It's not quite as delusional as KU to ANY P5 conference (who wants to add the worst football program / worst stadium) ?

I think we should go ahead and start workshopping some of our preferred ACC/big 10 scheduling history alliance rivalries

When I'm visiting California (sporting head to toe cats gear) I am constantly being approached by strangers who tell me that they loved visiting Manhattan and that it felt like a little west coast oasis in the middle of the prairie.

I’m still getting emails and phone calls from Stanford, Cal, USC and UCLA folks I’ve met thru our games over the years. “Manhattan and KSU are ‘so west coast,’” they tell me. Always going on and on about how they wish their own alumni base would support their schools similarly.

USC fans to this day will tell you the only P12 stadium experience that even comes close to ours is Oregon, and even they are a distant second.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

https://kfyo.com/texas-tech-president-talks-big-12-plans-and-veterinary-school/

Quote
The conversation started when Dr. Schovanec was asked about the future of the Big 12. The President said that Tech has been obsessed with this issue since the news broke, and that they are in discussion for viable additions, but that they have to be carful to handle things in a way that minimizes the financial loss impact of UT and OU. Additionally, he wonders if they can reconstruct the league in a way that gets the fanbase excited, and in a way that allows coaches to recruit. "Those are things that are ongoing and being discussed. What would you add to the league to keep a situation where we would be enthusiastic and financially viable?" Schovanec said. He went on to comment on how, while they have a few years to prepare, things are still starting to change, saying, "I think there's going to be some decisions in the short term that will probably be alarming to some people... but I do think that in the next 2 to 3 years there's going to be so much change in college football, and collegiate athletics in general, that the final shoe hasn't dropped."

Dr. Schovanec was then asked what the possible schools that could join are. He explained that it would be improper for him to say at this time, but that they are in several discussions with some good schools. He did comment, however, that you probably would not need to think too hard to guess who they might be.

I agree that there will likely be a lot of change still coming in college sports, despite the non-agreement that the P12, ACC, and B10 came to.  The NIL stuff will likely have a huge impact and I think it will cause a lot of changes.  That said, I have zero faith in the B12 being able to competently foresee and navigate that if OU and UT can surprise that group of idiots and bolt for the SEC.

For sure, the parents left the house and moved to Florida and the kids didn't even notice until after they called from the beach. Now, I can see a scenario where they group together a few other sort of crappy schools and live in a G5 world. They could prob get a decent deal/check, but it won't be close to what they were getting. Zero chance any big name is coming to the B12 that will offer more money. Its either get lucky as crap and get an invite to the big kids table or mold together a G5 group and try and get the biggest check you can.

I am going to chose to believe that we are going to the PAC-14.  As Kansas' most liberal University (socialist land grant school, lower admission requirement to provide access to all types of people, proponents of big agricultural welfare subsidy programs, list goes on...), it just makes too much sense not to be true.

At this point I'm just enjoying the discussion in that podcast saying us and OSU are done deals, I'd say we be the proactive ones for once and swing our junk around looking like badasses on our way to party with our west coast brahs

It's absolutely ridiculous to hold anyone with the Big 12 accountable, at all, for OU & UT lying to their peers faces and snaking the league behind their backs. How in the holy eff could anyone have known? Did you want Kirby Hocutt to bug and constantly surveil Chris del Conte and Bowlsby to do the same for Sankey? Blaming Chad Weiberg for Joe Castiglone being a lying rat eff bastard seems like an odd choice.

It's also worth noting that going forth that Oklahoma and Texas 100% acted in their own interests to the detriment of the rest of the conference and I'll give you an undeniable example of this. If the conference expanded in 2016, they'd be much less vulnerable now. Would the conference still be significantly worse off with OU and UT leaving a 12 or 14 team Big 12, yes of course, but having 12 or 10 leftovers gives significantly more leverage than 8. Oklahoma and Texas blocked expansion then. To add any team to the conference you need 8 votes, Oklahoma had Oklahoma State voting with them for everything, so we couldn't expand, same thing happened with adding Louisville by the way. Now that there isn't an imbalance of power it's very possible that this will be a much better forward looking league.

We haven't really discussed, as far as I can tell, the role of NBAF in making K-State a more attractive conference member to the PAC 12:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/slate-rumblings-from-the-west/ar-AANJD8G?ocid=msedgntp

The article also cites PAC 12 teams experience with K-State (very good), and how well the fan base travels.  Glad someone is noticing.
