I am definitely in favor of expanding to 14, forcing the new kids to take pennies, and pocketing that cash before the bubble bursts. I truly believe UT and OU will bolt at the end of the GOR, if they can get a nickel more...and the money flow is going to slow down.

I take the comments of Chuck Carlton's article not so much as they are just going to hop to another conference, but we need to see where TV is going. Because, if in 2007, you would have told me that on this day in 2016 that Blockbuster video was gone, Netflix has 50 million subscribers watching Friends reruns anytime you want, and I'd watch half of my TV shows on my cell phone before I go to bed, I would have called you crazy.

You've got Tim Cook out there telling people he's going to destroy the cable model as we know it, and you have Amazon, Netflix, and HBO streaming way better TV shows to you on demand without a cable subscription, and I spend most of my Saturdays on WatchESPN or Fox Sports Go and not in front of my TV. Where will we be in 2025? Is having a long term TV deal connecting us to a dying medium the best idea?

I mean it's possible they may leave. Or maybe Texas goes independent. Or maybe Texas goes to the Big Ten with Kansas and OU goes to the SEC. I have no idea.

But I do know there's a reason the Big Ten only signed six year deals with ESPN and Fox. And I'm betting that has to do with the fact that they don't want to be locked into a long term agreement, either.

Honestly, a part of me wonders if the Big Ten, Pac 12, and Big 12 start something that resembles the CFA as their deals expire. Like we go full circle and negotiate rights as a holistic P5 group.

We then simply negotiate rights fees like the NFL or MLB. If the BTN starts floundering due to cord cutting, the Pac 12 Network will have probably folded by then, and maybe we all just hop on to give it a reason to live.

I was just thinking how Star Trek TNG was wildly successful even though it wasn't syndicated. I say the BIGXII leaves all negotiations with FOX and ESPN and just sell each individual football game to the highest bidder. That money can then get split up somehow among the members. It might be fun seeing an ISU vs WVU game on like NIck Jr. Or some crap like that.

This way the will basicity leave the Big XII with only the new schools and the old north division. We'll be the new Big East type conference. KSU, KU, ISU, WVU, Cincy, BYU, CSU and whatever we can add to crap show.

I think you are right about us being mumped, but not about getting mumped the way you think we'll get mumped. I disagree with you completely on the rough ridin' process.

The new Texas Conference may grab some PAC schools or maybe Rice and SMU. That's TU, OU, OSU, TTU, TCU, Baylor, UH, and possibly AU, ASU, Rice and SMU. We're mumped guys!

I wonder what the rational of thinking was back in 1996 when the Big8 decided to get into bed with the SWC? UT basically chased off Nebraska, Mizzou, and Colorado.

I think over the last 20 years, we could've picked up 4 teams, not including UT that would've made us a greater BigXII conference. I'd like to think that we would've picked up A&M and maybe Tech after UT chased them off. I'm gonna start a new thread on this.

Katdaddy, I don't think that's true. The goal is to have someone in place by 2017 so we don't have the 10 teams in a championship game.

I think that's why BYU in 2017 and whoever (Houston/Cincy) can pony enough money to get out of the AAC deal quickly enough. Will probably hear something in September.
