There's even hints around that while the SEC is distributing a lot of money, there's no way they're ever going to touch the pie-in-the-sky numbers that people like Clay Travis were throwing around.

While it's a dynamic situation, as things stand right now the Big 12 is actually in a very enviable position and as MIR, myself and others have pointed out, OU and Texas will never be better off anywhere else but in the Big 12. It's absolutely in their best interest to pursue a strong and viable B12 that will last for years. The conference network bubble is bursting and it's only a fit in certain geographies. Hopefully Boren will keep his idiot fat mouth shut, and preferably retire.

Outside of expansion of distributorship, which I don't see a great desire for given the cord cutting. Nothing is saving the PAC network. If I were the Arizona schools, Utah and Colorado, I'd be having back channel conversations with the Big 12. But as lib said, the B12 will probably mess it up.

Colorado would rather suck in athletics forever and say they're aligned with Ca/Stanford/USC/UCLA than come back to the Big 12.

To be honest, if we took in UA and ASU, and the Pac 12 back-filled by taking Colorado St. and BYU, I think we'd be square for the most part.

Honest question, to me it seems much more logical to expand west with the schools that appear to be ripe for the pickin' (if they really are). And if this somehow comes to fruition, can new logo/newer logo trade WVU to the ACC for some Gatorade machines or something? Or are we like, always stuck with them?

no P5 team is "ripe for the pickin'" until the year before their GOR are up.

The Pac-12 network is likely never going to be a huge money maker, and you're dumb if you think that some Pac-12 schools aren't concerned. The P12 network simply isn't a thing in that part of the world. The Big 12 is directly attached and exists in the half of the country stretching from Central/Middle West back East that is collectively more interested in college athletics (with noted Pro Sports enclaves) then the Western U.S. The pro sports enclaves of the East/Northeast still have a high number of college sports fans, whereas population dense areas of the West are dominated by pro sports with few T-Shirt college fans. The culture of the California Pac schools is more oriented towards an East Coast high end public/private university (for good reason considering it's Cal, UCLA, Stanford and USC) and thus isn't conducive towards T-Shirters, with a notable of exception of USC when they're really good.

I'd be interested in the Arizona schools, but to be honest it's mostly because it would be nice to raid another conference (worth a crap) than to be raided.

I mean, I like them, but I don't love them. But they are a whole lot fuckin' better than the schools normally discussed for sure.

Staying at 10 might be the long term option, but if not, try and take FSU, Clemson, and whatever 4 they want to tag along to make an Eastern division. That only happens if SEC or B10 takes UNC or whoever first. But I'm ok with waiting for that whether it actually happens or not.

An 8 team playoff will always take a Big 12 team, so it's better to stay small.
