Guys, do you think that FS1 might turn to their Flagship U to find Regis' co-host for their version of college gameday? Maybe if the NFL thing doesn't work out for Collin, he could be the next Herbstreet.
They should get Sean.

Denied. Collin is lovely but it seems like he has the personality of a milk dud. Wrong sport, but someone like Tay would be awesome.

That's good thinking, MadCat. He would be far more entertaining than Collin.

So when are we going to just add 4 Florida schools and two schools near WVa and super conference this bitch up? Is this still what is eventually going to happen? Is the ACC still effed? I've been too busy counting money and polishing conference championship trophies to keep up!

Another interesting thing that came out was an article out of Louisiana a couple weeks ago.  The writer interviewed Karl Benson, the commissioner of the Sun Belt.  While he didn't quote Benson saying this, he did put it in the article.  He said it will come out soon that in order for a conference to get the full financial benefit of the new playoff it must have 12 football members.  This is interesting because Benson has been involved in every  discussion and meeting for the new playoff.  It sounded like Benson telling the writer "You can't quote me on this, but you can slide it into the end of the article to get it out there."  Considering the source, I think it's something you have to believe.

Does anyone know when the whole Maryland exit fee will be settled? As the article said and I think we all know that will be a big deal if Maryland escapes with significantly less than $50 mill. Going of what Hamburglar said I think the Big 12 will expand back at least to 12 at some point soon. The whole line of "we're happy at 10" I think has been retracted away from recently. IMO I like the 10 teams right now, but I don't think it'll be something we can live with long term.

I saw that.  I didn't really know what to think of it because it seemed kind of like a strange demand.

I mean, I guess they could put in a penalty that says, "If you want full payout, you need to subject yourself to a 13th game," but that seems...odd.

JerryWorld 'virtual lock'...
...to host first playoff championship game:

Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is a "virtual lock" to host the first championship game in college football's new four-team playoff, sources said.

Wednesday was the deadline to submit bids to host the championship on Jan. 12, 2015, and only the North Texas and Tampa Bay, Fla., communities submitted bids, sources said.

The BCS commissioners will meet April 23-25 in Pasadena, Calif., to officially announce the first championship site and other details about the upcoming playoff.

In January, sources told ESPN that Cowboys Stadium was the "prohibitive favorite" to host the game. Because Cowboys Stadium, which hosts the AT&T Cotton Bowl, is such an overwhelming favorite for the inaugural championship, several communities opted not to bid, sources said.

"It's pretty clear to everyone that it's headed to Cowboys Stadium," an industry source said.

Still, Tampa Bay, which has hosted four Super Bowls and the men's and women's Final Four, bid for the game. This could make a favorable impression and help its chances in landing a future championship game, sources said.

The upcoming 2013 season is the final year of the BCS before college football adopts a new four-team playoff after the 2014 regular season. The Jan. 1, 2015, semifinals will be held at the Rose Bowl presented by Vizio in Pasadena, Calif., and the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

To bid for the inaugural championship game, stadiums had to meet a minimum 65,000-seat requirement. Also cities could not host a semifinal game and the championship in the same year.

Besides expecting to land college football's new title game, Cowboys Stadium also will host the NCAA's men's Final Four nine months earlier, on April 5 and 7, 2014.

It's anticipated that this summer, the yet-to-be-named playoff is expected to start accepting bids for the Jan. 11, 2016, and Jan. 9, 2017, championship games, sources said.

I was very surprised to read that App St. and GA Southern are going FBS and then I looked at the Equity in Athletics for the Sun Belt :surprised:

Some of those schools are getting hammered. None of them report losses but its obvious they have them when some of the schools have revenues in the $3 million range. Florida Atlantic had $10 million in revenue! Anyway there is greater earning potential than I initially thought but they are going to get hammered for a few years with start up costs incurred with the transition.

With the plans by the Big 10 to stop playing non FBS schools they don't have much choice, especially if the playoff committee makes it some sort of rule that hurts the teams that still play FCS teams (like KSU  :curse:)

If that's the case, then the SEC would be changing their schedules.

true.  At this point, it sounds like a way for the Big Ten to "game" the system - similar to how the Valley and MWC as conferences try to avoid the really bad RPI teams on their non conference basketball schedules.
