Obviously A&M considers themselves to be "elite." I'm wondering how they define "Elite." If it's by performance I don't see how they can even make that argument with a straight face unless they are willing to consider K-State elite as well. For the sake of comparison, since 1996 (inception of the Big12):
A&M: 106 total wins, 1-8 bowl record, 2 Big 12 South Div Champs, 1 Big 12 Champ, 1 BCS bowl appearance
KSU: 120 total wins, 6-7 bowl record, 4 Big 12 North Div Champs, 1 Big 12 Champ, 1 BCS bowl appearance

If its from a financial stand point then they're just saying they've done less with more. Basically it boils down to butt hurt. They hate the LHN because they are jealous that their cult following doesn't have the number of TV sets to generate their own cable network. Even if the Big 12 had equal revenue sharing for tier 1 and tier 2 TV contracts and allowed for individual networks, A&M still would not be able to generate as much cash with their own network as UT or OU. They are jumping ship to cling to the equal revenue sharing teat of the SEC. They don't do anything performance wise to make the SEC believe they will add value to future TV contracts. A&M's brand and number of TV sets is highly over valued and they tried to make a move at the most opportune time for them, and it got blocked.  In turn it just creates more butt hurt. Truly entertaining to watch all this unfold. I just wish the media didn't have its collective head so far up it's rear and was willing to identify A&M for what they really are.

Concessions will need to be made.  I think others have already mentioned, but I'm sure there will be some sort of deal where revenue from all Tier 1 and Tier 2 rights, bowl revenues, etc. are shared equally between schools.  The only exception will be Tier 3 rights, which is where the Big Ten Network, Pac-12 Regional Networks, etc. come into play.   Would it be better for Kansas State if we had a joint network to dump Tier 3 rights on?  Sure.  Would it benefit Texas?  No.  Everyone else?  Maybe Oklahoma, but no one else.  However, conceding Tier 3 revenues and putting those in the hands of the individual schools is okay with me.  Some schools are currently creating infrastructure for that content (OU, KSU), and who knows, maybe in a few years, we may be able to convince a network to simply be a dumping ground and manager of all of that content for us that will generate revenues for everyone else.

Regardless, if UT wants to keep the LHN, they will need to share everything else.  And I think that's absolutely more than fair because, as of right now, there is no better situation for them than the Big 12 in terms of independence and overall revenue generation, even if we split all communal rights equally.

That's probably correct, which would make sense.  If you have a network, you don't need a Tier 3 because you need all of that for inventory.

Think about this: What if concessions are made by Texas to OU/OSU, etc., and the conference survives with equal revenue sharing. This happens because TX doesn't want to be independent. Meanwhile, they begin being butt hurt and feel that the league is no longer treating them with the respect they deserve as the "big dog" in the conference. They formulate plans and in a couple years join ND in the big 10, and then the conf. implodes.

Any number of butt hurt TX scenarios could keep this thing spinning at full speed for a long time.

Baylor thinks the Pac-12 is going to make an announcement today.  IF, they make a statement today I have a feeling its going to be the same  "We haven't been approaching any universities about about joining our conference" CYA statement that the SEC made a couple of weeks ago.
