wabash . . . if the Big 12 exists next year, as I understand it, the TV contracts will pay each school a minimum of around $14 million a year, about $9 million each a year from Fox, and about $4 million each from ESPN, about 25% of the annual ESPN pay out is based on appearances. So a school that has more appearances could make more than $14 million. The Fox Deal is shared equally amongst the schools. With Bowl payouts and and NCAA tourney sharing, each school will make more than $14 million, with some pushing $20 million.
Apparently the Big East doesn't divulge the actual numbers, but speculation is, the Big East Football Schools make about $10 million a year from TV contracts. The thing is, the Big East's ESPN contracts expire in 2012 (Basketball) and 2014 (Football). It's been reported that the Big East was close to a contract extension with ESPN and CBS a few months ago that was worth more money, but the Pac-12 TV deal was announced and the Big East backed off.
