something that is proven in science answers many more questions that I have than religion ever could. i know they are facts, compared to a book that was written after the fact 2000 years ago. something that is testable and proven right i believe and understand more than, hey why does this work? idk it just does and don't question it. but that's just me.

Things were perfect before our choices messed it all up(eating of the forbidden fruit in the garden), resulting in pain, death etc. We don't have the ability to get it back. We needed help.  We are all guilty. Sinful by nature and choice. But we got help, if we believe in Him.

so, if we were created in his likeness, why did we eff up so easily/early? is he not perfect?

Our likeness to God is in our personal nature. Christianity is the only religion whose God is both infinite and personal and what sets it apart as the only one that works. We are given access to Him which is unique and necessary as we are obviously personal beings who need to communicate with each other, love, etc.

He also gave us choice, however, and Adam and Eve were tempted and sinned as a result. God didn't create robots, he created personal beings who He could have a real relationship with.
Should efficacy be the grounds for a system of beliefs over veracity?  It would seem awfully convenient for something to be both the most effective and the most in line with reality.

But that's the thing, we're not talking about something that somebody made up a few hundred years ago. We're taking about the absolute truth. It's not a system that likely has some holes because a flawed, finite being pieced it together (like scientology or mormonism or islam). It is a belief in the Creator of all things, of the universe, of us and of reality itself. That can be true and without flaw because it is the reality of what really is.

If I speak of these things and argue and defend to save others from eternal damnation, why do you do it? What is to be gained by proving me wrong?

PW I don't think you're trying to defend or save anyone. I tend to find you as standoffish as you are cryptic. But I guess that's not a question.

What facts of science have made you certain about you, the universe, your feelings, your actions, etc. I'm aware of a bunch of theories, but very few facts.

One fact is that the human body can barely go over 20 days without food before it starts to cannibalize itself, yet jesus went 40 without food or water?  God was the one who punished everyone with The Black Death because they had sinned, no, disease is not caused by god, it is caused by bacteria and virus's.  DNA is the blueprint of every living thing on this planet, they have even found evidence of a god gene, which would invoke the perception of a higher creator.

You want my take on the universe stuff go read what I post in the science articles thread.  We can tell from carbon dating to a degree how old something is.  There is a layer of sediment called the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary that can be found all over the world, this thin layer is from the astroid that killed the dinosaurs 66 million years ago.  We have documented history of evolution and fossils of older species of humans.  The Catholic Church has even come out and covered it bases regarding evolution and extra terrestrial beings.  Which is a damn fine job on their part to sort of save their asses from a lot of potential threats to the church.

For someone who talks in absolutes about something, you sure don't have a lot of proof.

I have another question about your lunch:

Do you make your PBH in the heat of the moment or ahead of time?

PW, did you start this thread knowing that people would challenge your faith here and do it anyway, or did you start this thread intending to get people to challenge your faith?

P.S. I'm more interested in the PBH + banana slices question than I am this one.

Cold PBJ is fine. Toasted pbh is fine.  Crossing those ingredients and temps is not a good idea, imo

Never have.

Some people greatly enjoy it. I personally don't care for it. Would you ever be consider trying that variation of the sandwich?

I sought the challenge. I'm not here for any other reason.

I find that strange, but okay.

What is your opinion of the Book of Mormon (sacred text)?
