Why are you homphobic?

The Bible states that homosexual acts are sinful. Does that mean I'm homophobic?

Is this is a don't hate the player hate the game type response?

Do you really want to cutoff Bill's head?

I want the statue's head to be removed as a statement that no mere man is worthy of such an honor and that the viewpoint of people who wanted it, and are responsible for it, is incorrect.

There are other symbolic inferences that also could be made through the act and the slogan.

Who is your favorite goEMAW.com poster

I am.

You boast, indeed, of being obliged to no other creature, but of drawing and spinning out all from yourself; that is to say, if we may judge of the liquor in the vessel by what issues out, you possess a good plentiful store of dirt and poison in your breast; and, though I would by no means lesson or disparage your genuine stock of either, yet I doubt you are somewhat obliged, for an increase of both, to a little foreign assistance. Your inherent portion of dirt does not fall of acquisitions, by sweepings exhaled from below; and one insect furnishes you with a share of poison to destroy another. So that, in short, the question comes all to this: whether is the nobler being of the two, that which, by a lazy contemplation of four inches round, by an overweening pride, feeding, and engendering on itself, turns all into excrement and venom, producing nothing at all but flybane and a cobweb; or that which, by a universal range, with long search, much study, true judgment, and distinction of things, brings home honey and wax.

In May 2002, Jimmy McGill (Saul's birth name) is an Albuquerque public defender representing three teenagers, trying to convince the jury that their actions were merely "boys being boys". In response, the prosecutor simply plays a video of the three teenagers sawing off a cadaver's head to have sex with it.

Translations and exact definitions of hell are unimportant, but I also don't doubt truthful modern translations or Revelations. A person not with God for eternity will be separated from God for eternity and be subjected to weeping and gnashing of teeth in a lake of fire/fiery furnace, as is clearly stated, biblically. Separation from God is what is important. In the same way, heaven should not be desired for the gold streets or whatever is commonly thought of, but that man is finally returned to his intended place with God.

I am entirely certain that Revelation is intended, by God, to be in the Bible and have no reason to doubt or overly scrutinize it's author.

PW, how does the bolded part work?  So, if my human body dies and I go to hell in some form, what is it and does it feel pain or get injured/damaged?  Like if I still have a body and I'm in a lake of fire, don't I burn up and die (again)?  Or are the hell residents not actually immersed in the lake, but rather just have lakeside property up against the shittiest lake ever?

your soul is what is on the inside, so basically the connections in your brain that make up your personality and you as a person.  when you die, your 'soul' becomes its own form somehow and that is what gets tortured.  i guess you get soul nerves  :dunno: that can feel the pain of being tortured by other 'souls' that have come from other dead peoples brains.  i dont get it either obviously.

Baseball does typically not hold my attention. I respect it as a game that can be played. I liked that some of the Royals players were real athletes and appreciate them taking that approach.

I don't foresee making a Royals video. Plenty of down time to suit my taste, however.

Well, feel free to post in the Royals thread if you see something in a Royals game you'd like to BBS about.

Romans 2:11-16 is talking about those who have never heard the Gospel.  It is saying that they will be judged by the law written in their hearts, which is the knowledge of right and wrong.

I know that God is just, and that He will do what is right.  But as for most people on goEMAW, they have heard the Gospel.  And they will be judged according to how they respond to that Gospel.

My hope for all here on goEMAW is that everyone will turn from worshiping creation, and trust in Jesus.

You cannot be a good enough person to get into heaven.  All people have sinned in some way.  And all it takes to separate you from God is 1 sin.  That is why Christians celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.  For he lived a perfect, sinless life.  Thus satisfying the wrath of God.  The only thing people have to do to get into heaven is turn from living how they want to live and trust in Jesus.

jesus died around 37 a.d. the gospels were written starting in the 60's a.d. and john was most likely finished before 100 a.d., 120 a.d. at the latest.

what actually happens and the teaching in the bible are not taught how they were originally intended by the authors.  how many people would actually go to church if they knew it was going to last longer than an hour every time, and that it would be ALL scripture and teachings and not have standing and sitting and singing mixed in?  i give the church credit, they know what sells, and its putting on a good "service" with music and standing up and sitting down, and having people give a dollar so they feel like they are making a difference.  only for a majority of them to revert back to their own ways after they leave.

its the cliff notes, but assumptions are made and they are the wrong assumptions, but its the only way it can be conveyed.  Example: Drinking is bad.  Truth: Jesus turned water to wine and drank it.

I don't go to church for the singing and standing and setting. I know some do, but it is pretty insane to try to make it sound like that is why some people go to church. I don't even go to church for the scripture.

Please don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy all of those elements and I sing loudly and off key. I listen intently during scripture readings and the homily, but those are not the reasons I go to church.

Hang on a second, because this is gonna blow your mind...I go to church for the holy Eucharist.

notice how i didnt have any absolutes in what i said.  i am fully aware some people go for the right reasons.  a majority(not all) go to church or believe in religion because it is comforting to them.  its something to work towards, that if you are a good person in this life, you will be rewarded in the next by going to heaven.  that is fine, im not trying to bash what people believe because everyone is different and everyone has their own opinion and view.  what really pisses me off is religious people getting on a high horse and saying your going to hell or whatever for not believing, and that someone who doesnt believe in something automatically makes them a terrible person.  you can be a great person and have values and do the right thing, and at the same time not be religious.

That's fare. I don't know that I am going to heaven. I do believe in God and Jesus Christ. I try to lead a Christ-like life. I fail pretty horribly at it most of the time. I also believe that God's grace is enough for all of us to get to heaven.

I digress, as I don't want to take over PW's thread. I also am not smart enough to answer a bunch of questions (another one of my failings).

Well, well, this explains it all.  :surprised:

its something to work towards, that if you are a good person in this life, you will be rewarded in the next by going to heaven.

A Christian should not and cannot believe this^. Salvation can't be earned or worked towards. There is no "I've done enough." Only a reliance on Christ for it all.

Ephesians 2: And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
what about James 2:14-26?

ie: someone in your small group attributes making a decision to "i just heard God telling me to do it."

do you always believe people when they say these things or do you think much of the time people do what they want and give God the credit?

You and I have gone over this before. If it wasn't you, it was someone who you are indistinguishable from. I'd suggest you read the New Testament and discover that we are under a new covenant through Christ's sacrifice and resurrection and many of the laws and customs of Moses no longer apply to us.

seems like they still do

God could have, I suppose, but it would have been like cheating a perfect system. Jesus' sacrifice defeated sin and death and through God's grace can cleanse us and provide a bridge that can get us back to the perfection we once knew with God before sin entered the world.

so we are trying to get back to the 10 min that adam and eve were alive before the tree incident?

Things were perfect before our choices messed it all up(eating of the forbidden fruit in the garden), resulting in pain, death etc. We don't have the ability to get it back. We needed help.  We are all guilty. Sinful by nature and choice. But we got help, if we believe in Him.

so, if we were created in his likeness, why did we eff up so easily/early? is he not perfect?

Our likeness to God is in our personal nature. Christianity is the only religion whose God is both infinite and personal and what sets it apart as the only one that works. We are given access to Him which is unique and necessary as we are obviously personal beings who need to communicate with each other, love, etc.

He also gave us choice, however, and Adam and Eve were tempted and sinned as a result. God didn't create robots, he created personal beings who He could have a real relationship with.

I liked it OK. I thought the trailers conveyed a more sinister tone that was lacking in the actual motion picture that would have helped it succeed. But it was interesting to think about, the AI. I wondered afterward if it is ever moral to see a nude body of one not your own.

What is immoral about it?

let me ask you this, if adam and eve were the first people, and biblical scholars seem to think were on earth ~6000 years ago, why do we have a chronological record of different species of humans up until ~15,000 years ago?  why do we have fossils that shows the evolution of hominoids back over 2 million years?  did god just put all that stuff in the ground so dumb people like me would question him and be sent to hell?  or in your blind faith do you not even think about it because it leads down a road of proving it isnt real?

I'm talking to anyone that has shown disagreement at any point.

One thing I want to make clear. Christianity is not simply a comfort or something that due to tradition I've gravitated towards. It is the truth. It answers the necessary questions men should have about why they exist, why we think and act the way that we do and what else is there beyond us. If you have ever asked any of these questions, science or other beliefs cannot adequately answer them and you know that. But the true God who is there, can, and He's calling you to himself.

But that's the thing, we're not talking about something that somebody made up a few hundred years ago. We're taking about the absolute truth. It's not a system that likely has some holes because a flawed, finite being pieced it together (like scientology or mormonism or islam). It is a belief in the Creator of all things, of the universe, of us and of reality itself. That can be true and without flaw because it is the reality of what really is.

What facts of science have made you certain about you, the universe, your feelings, your actions, etc. I'm aware of a bunch of theories, but very few facts.

One fact is that the human body can barely go over 20 days without food before it starts to cannibalize itself, yet jesus went 40 without food or water?  God was the one who punished everyone with The Black Death because they had sinned, no, disease is not caused by god, it is caused by bacteria and virus's.  DNA is the blueprint of every living thing on this planet, they have even found evidence of a god gene, which would invoke the perception of a higher creator.

You want my take on the universe stuff go read what I post in the science articles thread.  We can tell from carbon dating to a degree how old something is.  There is a layer of sediment called the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary that can be found all over the world, this thin layer is from the astroid that killed the dinosaurs 66 million years ago.  We have documented history of evolution and fossils of older species of humans.  The Catholic Church has even come out and covered it bases regarding evolution and extra terrestrial beings.  Which is a damn fine job on their part to sort of save their asses from a lot of potential threats to the church.

For someone who talks in absolutes about something, you sure don't have a lot of proof.

I just did consider it and I'm not going to do it. I'm afraid of the consistency of bananas.

For records, the honey on my sandwich is very light. A slight drizzle.

The consistency was the reason I didn't care for it, and I put it all together immediately before consuming. I'm sure it would be awful if done the night before.

You've got pocket Js in early position. You raise 4x the big blind pre-flop and get called by the big blind. Flop comes 4,Q,K, no flush draw on board, and the big blind bets 1/2 the pot. To call would be ~10% of your stack. What's your move, PW?

This is either raise (3-3.5x V's bet) or fold imo.

Glad Snyder was fired. Klieman was disappointing but expected. Killed my interest. I wanted Venables 15 years ago. Not sure who now. I like coaches who do whatever it takes and believe in fun. And can we get rid of the traditional unis? We have no tradition.

It is of course Malick. And Hidden Life, without the highest highs, was great.

Tough to say on others. I really liked the first trailer for If Beale Street Could Talk.

Devs (motion pictures) was interesting. Atlanta. Moments in Villeneuve, Safdies, Refn, Tarantino, Chazelle, Gray. Haneke.

I would want someone who has led people before. Moral and fair. Believes that all human lives, born and unborn, are to be held in the highest regard. Doesn’t have an agenda or people to please. Uses reason to make decisions. Not afraid to do what’s truly right.

that is not what I remember....
I know some of you think you have met me, but to my knowledge I’ve never met any of you. And if someone who was drinking (alcohol) said they were me, they weren’t. I’ve never had a drop.

This is the internet.

PW I read Klieman and Gene were supposed to go to Nike HQ to check out new uniform concepts but it got cancelled by the pandemic. Seems like they still could have ups'd some concepts sand had a phone call to discuss then but what do I know
Sounds like a coach who is letting circumstances get in the way of domination.

I agree, thank you for your thoughts.

Welcome back, PW!  Are you going to resume posting in multi-colored text?  Your posts just don't seem like yours without it.

Questions for you!

Do you care as much about K-State as you did 10 years ago?

No, I don't.  I still care more than I'd like to though.

Also, hello PoetWarrior, how are you?

Care is building after years of apathy. I like to believe they way I’m caring is a better and healthier version.

Sounds like an improvement.

What makes us care? Pride perhaps?

Care same for football, way less for basketball.  I care a lot about football though.  I'm as interested as I've ever been.

I was very angry at Bill 11-12 years ago and cared a lot less like 10 years ago. Klieman has me kinda excited!

I've been wetting my beak trying to learn video editing a little bit lately.  You are certainly an inspiration in that regard.   Maybe someday you'll make another K-State video set to ave verum corpus or maybe just an imperceptibly soft buzzing noise.

The Bible’s stance on homosexuality hasn’t changed, so mine hasn’t either.

I encourage you to take up where I left off. Don’t see myself making anything else. I’ve said what needed to be said. I know! Let’s all go watch them all and come back and talk about them!

This article explains the context of slavery in the Bible.

https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/why-wrong-say-bible-pro-slavery/

But perhaps more importantly is the bigger narrative that, from the beginning, God created man in his own image and with that declares all men are to be valued equally. Then, Jesus came to save all men, Jews and Gentiles alike. The God of the Bible loves all people and calls them to himself. Men, however, are sinful. So if anyone throughout history distorted the true stance of the Bible, they were wrong.

The vids that you produced during the 2009-10 Hoops season and the 2012 Dr Pepper season are towering monuments in the culture of the EMAW people. We will always be in your debt.
