My Dr did approach me about mini cows.  I must admit they are intriguing.

The mini pony pen is also the junkyard. Look at all this cool junk! More antique farming equipment!

Some freezers, an old timey wagon wheel and an IBC that probably held some awesome chemicals at one point!

But wait! There is more!

Some giant rusting tanks that probably held fuel or something really cool!

I would love to know what year my Grandpa hung this poster up in the barn.

with respect to minicows, what is "dual purpose"? petting and hugging? meat and cheese? milk and fur?

Sounds like "dual purpose" is quite an undersell

If LHC Bill Snyder owned a dual purpose mini cow would it have a bad shoulder and BSE?

Stoked I won an auction for used guard rail from KTA.  One of these on hedge posts about a footage a half off the ground should contain any mini livestock.

We own a massive number of railroad ties. Why? Well who knows. sd grandfather just knows a deal when he sees one.

My cousin hauled timbers off a railroad trestle into the barn yard  couple years ago.  Utility poles are there for the taking... farmers are the ultimate repurposers.

Used to be you could get out by the track and pick up used ties as RR maintained the tracks.  Now you need a permit and permission/contract to get them.
Hot time in Kat town tonight.

used to be milk snakes loved to take shelter beneath discarded railroad ties.  now?  the poor things are probably shivering beneath the cold starry skies, no cover to be found.

So something has eaten all the cats on the cat ranch, didn't see a single cat out there over the weekend. My guess is coyotes but there are also 2 giant horned owls that live in the windbreak.

My dad sent some emails to local shelters inquiring about getting some new barn cat stock for the cat ranch. One of them put him in touch with some guy out in Olathe who had around 14 barn cats he was looking to get rid of.

My dad met with the guy but he wanted to "Check out the farm first and make sure the cats would be safe from coyotes". My dad LOL'd at him and that was that.

Maybe some new cats will just show up and colonize the barn again?

Thankfully lil lil is mainly a house cat now. My dad will bring her out to the farm when he is there but she comes back everytime.

I appreciate your concern tho.

Can confirm. My grandparents farm cats ebbed and flowed from 7 to 1 or 2 over the course of 30 years
