Parenting is a huge issue.  Big enough that it could overcome poverty in the Ed equation.   I still think state benefits should be tied to school performance and attendence of the dependents of those receiving benefits.

I don't claim to have all the answers, but I think it's important to ask the right questions and to not be afraid of where that takes you.  We can only move forward if we all walk together.

yeah, to just say it's poverty is an oversimplification.  No doubt poverty is a contributing factor, but it's neither a cause nor an effect in itself.
