Like, I feel really awful. I'm sitting in a chair and out of breath and full and kinda sweaty and its cold in here. The inside of my mouth feels like someone sprayed pam all around in there and then salted it and then coated it with old butter. My shirt has grease drops on it. My heart is beating too fast and I'm unbelievably thirsty.

Welp

The pam and salt and old butter description is really good.

The mhk bell is bell is by the register instead of the door, very inconvenient
Oh man, I loved the ole' "ring the bell as hard as you could and run away as you left" move.  Classic

I had a buddy in high school who pete'd his way through fish in individual paper boats, just flooding that boat with malt vinegar.  I thought he was mentally disturbed, we'd  have 6 guys just aitting around watching him like a freak show all too horrified to look away.   Now i feel bad for shaming him, he has dreads now.  Probably related

Canadian?
I wish I had a canadian friend.

I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

That first plate is mine.  I subbed pups for my sides, and had no idea that would make me end up with 10 pups!  I could only eat like four.  Cartier got the shrimp combo.  FWIW, he says that their tartar sauce is not good.

I just woke up from a nap a bit ago.  I really recommend taking a 3 hour nap after a big LJS run.

Two more things.  First, we were sorta joking around with the cashier while we ordered, and I think he gave me the hookup on those crispies in my add-a-fish.  It was the mother load.  Second, if you guys are serious about eating fish, they have all you can eat fish for $8.99 every Friday over lunch before dinner...for you catholic pot heads out there, file that away for lent!

I went to LJS with Pete years ago. He got hush puppies as sides back then, too, and used the same line: "I had no idea I'd get ten!" I informed him that he could just order them by the dozen. He was like, "Really!!? Oh, yeah, I, uh, knew that." Then, he got up and went to order a dozen to go!

Those fish rhombuses look pretty good.  There are only 3 LJSs in this city, and they're all way the hell far away from me, in the more... affordable parts of town   :frown:

An entertaining six page thread (in like a day and a half no less) about LJS is the kind of thing that makes this blog worth reading imo.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Had lunch there last week. Immediately got the shits.

That's enough for me. Will not go there. Thanks for the warning.

If I used that as criteria for what to eat I would have to stop eating.  Just sayin.

It's a matter of degree. Food makes one defecate. Bad food makes one defecate excessively, and perhaps unpredictably and uncontrollably. Once warned about a place, I will avoid it.

Did you guys order "extra crispy" or "original recipe"? Back in the day I only ate "original recipe" but I got those extra crispies on the side.

Went to MHK's super-fancy location today. Got the chicken and fish combo with a side of slaw. It was delicious. The battered meat was great and fried perfectly. The crispies, oh my! Will definitely be going back soon. I only hope that my positive experience wasn't an anomaly based on MHK's upscale LJS establishment.

I even rang the bell.

I read this thread yesterday and got all excited to eat LJS for the first time in 10 years.

Started driving to the closest LJS but halfway there remembered my favorite chinese buffet was right next to LJS so I ate there instead  :frown:

LJS was my first job ~17 years ago in Newton. This is bringing back a lot of memories.
